125 People Caught in Child Porn Sweep

NEWARK, N.J. (Oct. 19) - A Bible camp counselor and a Boy Scout leader were among 125 people arrested nationwide in an Internet child pornography case in which subscribers purchased photos and videos of children engaged in sex acts with adults, federal authorities said Wednesday.

The case originated in New Jersey, but quickly spread to 22 states. The defendants were charged with either possession or receipt of child pornography. Additional arrests are expected.

Prosecutors said the Web site alerted subscribers that its content was illegal and urged them to be discreet about their purchases.

"When I say `hard-core' pornography, I am talking about child pornography that includes images of children as young as six months involved in bondage and sodomy," U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie said. "This type of depraved conduct is something a civilized society cannot tolerate."

Christie said none of the defendants appeared in any of the images they obtained from the Web site. He would not identify the Web site or say whether it is still in operation.

Among those arrested were a Bible camp counselor from Vancouver, Wash.; a Boy Scout leader from Mission, Texas; and a pharmaceutical researcher in New Jersey.

Several of those arrested nationwide have prior records for molesting or sexually assaulting children, officials said.

One defendant from San Diego told agents at his arrest that he had molested at least eight children over a 30-year period, and boasted of being able to identify particularly vulnerable children, said Christie.

Another defendant from Sacramento, Calif., was found to be in possession of a hand-held video camera with a videotape showing him sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl, Christie said.

"I'm the father of four young children between the ages of 13 and 3," Christie said. "This is every parent's worst nightmare. It is just deeply disturbing to know there are people like this out there in our neighborhoods."

Yeah I saw that piece of sickness earlier. What I want to know is who are those sick fucks? Have their names and site come up in discussions here before?

on CNN it reported that sites like that take in $2 million a month... i am going to go ahead and have to call bullshit on that.

Is this anything to do with the Justin Berry fallout does anyone know?

I got this from my AOL News thing so I think its pretty reliable. It was one of their top stories.

And I am digusted too. Those poor kids.

Good to see that the authorities are doing something to actually fight real CP, rather than keep themselves busy with 2257 nonesense.

Oh Please...this is the federal government...they have plenty of time and money for both!

I'm not sure it is bullshit. I remember reading in an article some time ago (Red Herring, I think) that some of the CP sites were charging as much as $80-100/month for access, and that CP videos could go for as much as $200-300 each.

Remember the discussion on the questionable sites a few weeks back? Those sites were converting insanely well according to the people who were promoting them, and I'm guessing these sites would convert at an insanely high rate. Combine $100 a month with a site that is apparently in high demand and very limited supply, I could see getting 10,000 or 20,000 members. Remember that the pedophiles who subscribe to these sorts of sites are often described as highly compulsive and often very well connected through underground networks.

That's the really sad part. It's hard to stamp out because the pieces of shit who run the sites make so much money that they will do most anything to find a way to continue to make the content available.

What is really needed in addition to busting all of these programs and the people who subscribe to them is to make treatment options more readily available for the people who need it. By reducing the demand AND aggressively going after the suppliers, a more effective eradication program might be possible.
