I recall a conversation we had on here a few months back where a bunch of us were saying the future is going to be porn that members can download from online (inside a members area) and use their portable device to watch that same content on their regular TV.
It looks like Apple just made that delivery method a little more viable :)
Im glad i spent the last few weeks encoding all my movie content to .mp4 format now :thumbsup:

We need a new delivery system really bad I hope it will help, but think it needs to be combined with more features before something like this will take off. Like a Game System, DVD, this Web to TV, a clock, and a few more if possible. Not sure it can stand alone yet is all.
what about the helio? it's got all of that and it's a phone.

I will say this for that entire ipod movement: thanks to their changing the term stream and download to podcast I can once again acquire music, free of charge.

oh yah, I forgot: what the device WILL do very well is broaden it's reach-I see it merely as a device that will suck more people in to using iTunes.
Not being rude or an Apple Corp hater - that is merely how I view it.
I've been saying that this is the way the industry is going for years.
i don't have a TV, but I can download episdoes of shows I want to see for a couple bucks and keep them forever. I can watch them on a plane on my iPod or on my TV or on my computer.
They can come with me and I can show them to a friend, so I don't have to buy a DVD.
Hard goods are going to disapper soon and we'll only have AppleTV units and cable. I don't have to bother rushing home to see my favorite shows and I dont' have to mess with a Tivo. I just subscribe to my favorite shows and they download automatically once the episode is released.

well, yes and no.
It syncs with iTunes, but you can include any mp4 and m4a video files.
so my podcast will appear in full quality on your widescreen TV.
same with any files that people want to sell you.
What is the resolution of Itunes video? Is it going to look crappy on a hi-def 55" Plasma?

I know their computers are truly a great product (so long as they keep Billy$ out of them), however, I fail to see anything cutting edge with the TV thingy.
As for iphone: I know it will be of great value to those whom simply must work from their phone. It can do things such as run Final Cut Pro. So you can now edit video if you buy the iphone.
I still use the most basic of cell phones---I tried to find a with GPS only (no MP3 & no camera) however that is not possible---so why would that interest me. I am not the type that MUST be connected 24/7. I am the guy throwing my phone on the floor before heading out the door-treat it (cell) like a LAN line. I do not bring it to work. I do not drive and talk. I do not yammer on while shopping, eating or chillin' with the buds. It is merely a form of communication, which I do not need constantly.
Also, I am told have very nice eyes, and even though they work very very well I simply can not stand watching movies or looking at pics on a miniscule screen, NM browsing the web. DVD players in cars to me are crap, why would I want to look at thumbnail-sized video.
