IS AVN Insane?

I woke up this morning to find my monthly copy of AVN Online sitting on the floor beneath my mail slot. I do appreciate receiving it and I'm grateful it's free, too!

However, for some strange reason, and for the first time since I have subscribed, the magazine arrived in a clear plastic bag. Now, this particular issue's cover is largely innocuous, just a single reference to "porn addiction" and their tag line "The Magazine for the Adult Digital Industry." However, some of their covers have been pretty racey.

I'm not ashamed of what I do, I just choose to whom I disclose this part of my life.

That is stragne, they must send them out differently for different subscribers. We get, AVN, AVN Online and GAYVN all together in a flat box.

At least you get them LOL

Last year i mentioned that we hadnt been getting AVN or GAYVN and was told it would be taken care of...

Really, Lee? We thought you were kidding! Seriously, with as much as you rag on AVN and complain about receiving a daily newsletter with links to important stories concerning your business, I can't see why you would want to receive the magazine.

I'm being facetious, of course. I'm not sure why it wasn't taken care of, except to say that maybe someone in our subscriptions department was paying attention to GWW. :)

On a related note, when customers call and ask how we ship our DVDs, they're always afraid that the box has a big sign on it that says "CONTAINS GAY PORN"

I always assure them that no, we'll send the Fratmen themselves to their place of work to hand deliver the DVDs. "They do a little dance and everything," I tell them.

They usually laugh. Sometimes they believe me.

People are dumb.

I've occasionally borrowed a line from another company when customers answer that question...

"Well, we ran out of the bright pink penis-shaped boxes that say "GAY PORN INSIDE", so now we just use plain brown boxes with nothing in the return address to indicate it's adult material"

That usually gets a laugh.

You have to admit that a grown man, which makes his living doing porn, bitching about the clear plastic bag that covers an adult industry mag, is just nitpicking.

ANV and GAYAVN put so much effort into their work and publicly labeling them as "insane" or irresponsible because somewhere in their distribution line packaged their product incorrectly is just tedious. How about an email or PM to KenKox or AVN? I mean really.

You know I really don't think I was being that unreasonable. Ever since I subscribed to AVN's mags, I get them in plain envelopes. And it's a good thing because a survey of the last year's covers reveals that at least half of them are kinda racey, not in a Hustler kind of way, but enough that they should be delivered in opaque envelopes.

And AVN still hasn't replied to my original point. They addressed Lee's not receiving his magazine, but somehow that took precedence over why AVN is shipping out their mags in clear plastic envelopes.
