what % of sponsors do you think shave?

im talking

a) those that just cut/adjust #s in order to change clicks or payouts

and

b) those that are not clear how they pay and on what, and leave a misimpression for their affiliate (counting join form hits, not paying on check transactions, counting based on "qualified" joins, and so forth)

The processors shave, don't they?

Technically close to 100% in that case, even whether the program knows it or not. :confused:

not sure what you mean. if you mean that they can take a consumers $ without paying you, then i would think you could check that by either a) wait until you hear complaints about customers that cant log into your members area or b) check your password file regularly to check if usernames/password are added that you are not getting paid on, then out them publicly for doing it

It is extremely risky to do a traditional shave these days. I don't doubt that it's still going on, but certainly not at the rate it once was.

Sponsors have found better ways of stealing signups from affiliate traffic.

- Over branding of content.
- Traffic leaks.
- Early expiring cookies.
- If the surfer comes back via typein, the in-house affiliate code is in the Enter button.
- Webmaster links without ref ID coded in.
- A 30 day access option without credit for immediate rejoins, thus getting around paying affiliates revshare.
- Ref ID removed from URL so that it's not saved to favorites.
- Listing bonus site access in the tour, and going to those sites by typein to check them out overwrites affiliate cookie.
- Once a member is referred, no affiliate can ever refer that member ever again.
- No credit for email boxes.

Its even easier than that, even when programs use scripts such as NATs its still possible to shave an affiliate, blatently.

All it takes is for someone to have a minute bit of knowledge about php includes and the php time/date function and sales can auto-magically stop for hours on end, usually late at night/early hours of the morning when most adult webmasters are sleeping.

Typically these type of thing gets noted as a 'glitch'.
