Something I Have Never Understood

Why is it that people are concerned with how many new members a paysite has? Someone just asked me on ICQ what a 'good amount of new signups is' and really, why would anyone care?

Just because a site has X amount of new members, it doesnt mean the site is making a lot of money, for example, sites that offer $1 or free trials, they are going to have really high numbers of new members on any given day, but how many of those members are actually going to stick around after the trial?

Number of 'members' a site has on any given day means nothing IMHO, its about how much $$$ the site makes for the owner that is important.

That's true Lee. But while I would be happy to share what our non-affiliate based conversion ratio was or what our retention ratio is, there is not a chance I would tell anyone how much money we make. At least not until our IPO ;-)
