Upsells in members area?

What is the general consensus on this? I think I have 2 banners up in a links section for other paysites, but even those are coming down soon. Right now, I try to stick with non compete upsells, I have had some luck with fleshlights, and I also do some reviews on sextoys and sex products that I own.

What do you guys have in paysites?

For affiliates? Do you care if the site you are marketing has upsells, or do you want it as clean as possible? I would think clean would be better for rentention.

I think there is a place to upsells in the members area and surfer typically dont mind them so long as they are in used in moderation to the amount of actual 'content' inside the site.
