DRM Alternatives

Webmasters... I am starting a download 2 own site with a 2nd option of video on demand. I have the video on demand covered. However, I'm stumped with the download 2 own stuff.

What my goals and accomplishments are is to protect the studio content from being stolen.

Here's how it works:
The consumer visits the site, finds the video he/she wants, pays for the video, once their payment is processed the video downloads to wherever they save it.

I initially planned on using DRM, however many people are telling me not to use it.

What is an alternative to DRM that I can use?
