Kocis' Father Suing Murder Suspects

The father of murdered porn producer Bryan Kocis is suing his son's alleged killers, according to documents filed Monday in the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas.

Michael Kocis, of Plymouth, is seeking unspecified damages from Harlow Cuadra and Joseph Kerekes, who allegedly murdered his son and then burned down his Dallas home.

Investigators allege romantic and business partners Cuadra, 26, and Kerekes, 33, killed Kocis to lure his premier actor to their own pornography business.

In January 2007, the two Virginia Beach men allegedly stabbed the 44-year-old Kocis to death and set his house on fire, according to investigators.

Cuadra and Kerekes are both charged with homicide and are being held as they await their trial. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in the case.

I wonder if this civil case will be tried before the criminal one and, whether or not the outcome will affect the result of the criminal trial if so?

Chad, do you know whether a civil case can be tried prior to a criminal case?

I wonder what the benefit is of suing these two? What is there to gain?

A civil case is to recover money, and since both defendants appear pretty much bankrupt I don't see the point. In the infamous OJ case, even though he was acquitted of the criminal charges he was found civilly responsible for Nicole Simpson and Goldman's deaths. However, OJ had assets and future income to recover.

I'd hate to know I had parents that would have nothing to do with me alive, but to wait until after my death to pursue financial interests.

Hypothetically speaking if there was a rumor that a couple people helped authorities to stay out of trouble themselves, does that protection carry over into civil court?

But the couple in question did not get an offer of immunity to "help" the prosecution in the criminal case.

Did they really kill him to lure his star actor over to THEIR porn business?

The only people who truly know the answer to that question (and I'm not trying to say who those people are, 'cause I don't know) aren't talking. So any answer would be purely speculative.

This case is a mess. The people who were charged don't seem to have a decent motive, unless they are completely stupid. Killing someone over a business deal, particularly over one model, no matter who it is, is simply ridiculous. On the other hand, Bryan had a lot of enemies, including more than one individual who directly stated they were interested in hiring hit men.

I'm not even sure that a guilty verdict in the cases of the two men charged will bring complete clarity to the case, unless the two charged individuals offer up a confession.

It's a sad state of affairs.

I guess that case was bad for other lawyers as well if it is true.

One of Kocis' attorneys filed a complaint with the Arizona Bar Association against me because he dug up every post I ever made on GWW and reported a post I made about hiring hookers in Bangkok to the Bar as an ethical violation. It was dismissed as unfounded but I did have to explain to a Bar ethics investigator that yes, I am not ashamed to be openly gay, and yes I did write the post but I am sticking to it and by the way Mr. Bar Investigator Can I refer you to the 1st Amendment of the US Constitution??
I thought it was a very low and unethical tactic used against me personally.

Hi Chad I remember that attack against you, but of course you know that came from Kocis. He was like a wild attack dog in 2005 hiring PI's to investigate Grant Roy, Stalking Sean, harassment and stalking were the orders of the day.

Like I said, the people who know aren't talking, and everything else is speculation.

There are a ton of people who are in debt up to their eyeballs who don't go around killing people.

The circumstantial evidence, from what I've read of the original bill of particulars, certainly paints a pretty strong picture, but the motive is the weakest part. The alleged motive is also contradicted by the emails from Joe to Grant.

We simply don't know who did what, who put whom up to what, or anything else. It's all speculation.
