To reduce the file size of images but still have them looking reasonably good these days?
I have been using Photoshop for the last few years but im sure there must be an easier (and quicker) way to do it, preferably something with a batch feature ;)
Any suggestions?

Fireworks has a batch feature, and it's what I use to mass produce thumbs and/or reduce images for galleries.
I've always used photoshop, computer has enough memory and processing power that it flies right through any type of batching I need.
We use a combination of Photoshop & Aperture for retouching and finishing then use Fireworks for batch processes. Works well so far.
ditto, to Photoshop 'action'/batch.
Drag images to folder, press ""play"" (previously recorded actions) and I am off to grab a tall & dark ... mug o' freedom roast!
Not sure if there is a program that can do it easier than that.
