Tech Question About A Form Button...

Im trying to figure out how i would send a surfer from one page to another using a form button and text field.

What i want to happen is, when the surfer puts a value in the text field and hits submit, they get redirected to another page and whatever value they put in the form field, is shown at the top of the 2nd page.

Does that make sense?

If so, does anyone know how i would go about doing this using a simple form field (or do i need some kind of php scripting too?).
