that doesn't surprise me. not only do a lot of my porn surfing buddies believe this but so do some of my mainstream non-porn surfing friends.

43% of adult sites probably do employ marginal tactics, but the part that always gets me is that banks and many retailers all employ the same techniques - try to get a monthly identity theft monitoring recurring charge you didn't ask for off your credit card - even Rosetta Stone online rebills...

As an aside here - before you pay anyone for identity theft coverage check your homeowners policy - a lot of them include coverage now...

I would also guess that at least 25% of sites operate unethically too - just look at your typical join on any large company site, they hit you for your $1 trial that converts to $47/mo and they tag along 2 cross sales at 39/mo each. An inexperienced surfer typically finds this out when they get their credit card bill and see over $120 in charges.

Yep, and that will be their last paid join...
They'll spend more time finding good free stuff after they finish the chargeback hassles...
