Does anyone know what the penalties are for software piracy and not images?
I seem to recall the fines on a 'per image' basis for image theft were in the region of $1200-$1500 per infringement but, what about software piracy?
Isnt that investigated by the FBI?

If I remember correct to get the FBI involved something like $5000 minimum in damages has to have occured
there was some association ... business software alliance (?) ... that is trying to fight software piracy
the fines are something like up to $100k per violation, for music is up to $150k
of course you also have bill gates who says he'd rather have people pirate windows and office than use linux and open source so it really depends
