Do People Really Supply Their Details To Phishing Emails?

For places like Paypal, Epassporte, BofA, Wachovia, etc, etc?

I mean reading through some of the phishing emails i get on a daily basis it really does make you wonder just how intelligent some of the people who get duped by these scams are.

I talked to someone a few minutes ago whoms friend was robbed online. They got access to his emails, moved all domains, changed DNS and robbed his ePassporte. He has nothing anymore which is quite fucked up :(

i know quite a few do. My banks has been sending out warning letters and has warnings on its website rather frequently lately. Seems there is a huge amount of email phishing crap going around at the moment.

Some of the sites the links go to are amazingly authentic looking.

Some of the phishing sites are remarkably clever.

A few months ago, Slashdot highlighted a study they had done among experienced IT professionals in which they were shown 20 emails and asked to tell which ones were phishing emails and which were legit. Amazingly, only about 15% of professionals got all 20 correct. I took the test and I think I missed one or two, and I consider myself fairly sophisticated at detecting fakes.

Of course, some are so poorly written/worded that it's amazing anyone would fall for them.
