Official start of the "New Blog" experiment for newbies and new to blogs, etc etc...
Well, I guess the thing to do is start building some blogs from scratch, to test the whole "its realistic and profitable for newbies to start with blogs." thesis.
So, if anybody has been following this discussion, this is the thread for actually starting the experiments.
So if you want to start a blog, I'll try to help you, and where my knowledge fails I'm sure there will be plenty of advice and suggestions to choose from.
So, to do this,
-you need to get a name or names.
-you have to install the blog script.
-you have to outfit your blog with the theme and plugins and modifications that you'll want and need.
-and you have to operate the blog by writing the content for it.
And then watch the money roll in.
Let's see, to summarize just a few of the points made in the debate thread.
1. Niche it as deep as possible.
2. To a certain extent, treat it like a freesite, by submitting it to various traffic sources.
3. (?) Treat each post like a mini gallery with many pics and text, to bring the visitors back.

Here's my example, and my first experiment in this experiment series, on a new domain name.
http://bangmebear.com/
Not very deeply niched - so I'll make another one in a bit that is deeper.
Some hours of work in it already - already significantly longer than it takes to make a freesite - mostly spent in minor adjustments to the theme, tho making the first post took longer than one would like, partly because of messing with the basic built-in tools for handling images.
Some minor tweaks to the css, to increase the size of the text and make the links more attractive to the click.
Lots of work to do yet obviously.

So, if you are interesting in getting a learning boost with this blogging stuff, start trying to start a blog, and no question is too dumb to be asked.
