Flash becomes THE media format of choice for movies?
It seems like more and more online businesses are moving towards the flash media model when it comes to movie files, im wondering if this will have a major impact on other media players and formats such as Real, WMV, MPEG, AVI etc, etc?
Do you think we will ever see the day where these older media file codecs and file types become obsolete?

not until playing flash on the desktop is as ubiquitous as an mpg file
although adobe is now trying to change that by shoving Adobe Air and Adobe Player into every install possible, but it will be a while. So far the player I think has had a lukewarm response.
If ever.
Personally I prefer my files in something more high quality
Besides, my graphics card has hardware acceleration for MPEG-2, H264, WMV which makes it much easier watching HD content unlike Flash video which even with a quad core processor sucks up about half of it when I watch HQ video
Flash will probably be remain the choice for streaming
Silverlight is pretty cool though
Mom had to install something a few days ago on her PC that had Adobe Air auto installed too, took Gary about 4 hours to fix moms pc afterwards.
