Im always seeing things like this in Google, usually they just lead to a blank page with some ads on them and nothing of actual 'worth'.
Despite the obvious downside to these types of sites stealing our legitimate traffic, how do they actually 'know' what sites to add to their databases or do they simply get feeds for newly registered domains and just add them every day?

holy crap. I just replaced GWW.com in that URL with one of my sites (not adult). Up came a page that said About Us is not aware of my site...and hold on while they check or something...then in 3 seconds the page changed to one exactly like yours, Lee. So that is one way they get sites!
Its a sort of wiki where you can add your website and edit your information. Sure nothing useful but you get a link.
Every time you type a domain name that does not exist in the database, it gets added. Whenever I set up a new website, I always "add" it to this site.
some of them also use dmoz.org feeds to get information about a site or use data from alexa.com too so i think it is a mix of different information used to steal traffic about a domain name in like a database
