Credit Card Processing?
I'm going to be setting up a mail order business where I produce and distribute a completely unique item to the GLBT community, but I have little experience with setting up a storefront. I have zero capital, so i'm going to have to scratch together every little resource I need for this. Since I want to do a small number of sales in the beginning, a margin of surfers being turned off by my original payment methods is not necessarily the end of the world. So what I want to know is, keeping that in mind, what is the best/cheapest or free way to accept credit card payments for physical goods, that people will trust? Any help is much appreciated! Also any advice on this particular type of internet business would be great.

Hey Jay,
Hit me up on ICQ and let's have a chat. I don't know if I can actually fulfil all your needs, but I'm sure I can help with at least some of it!

DigitalJay, I can set-up a merchant account for you. There is usually a set-up fee but if you let Intertrans do your ACH processing I will waive it. The initial set-up will cost you nothing.
Give me a call 562.225.2497

Well stictly speaking you can most likely use a mainstream processor for this project.
Give http://www.2checkout.com/ a look :)

I know that Ibill handles things like sales of products that you can hold in your hand. Although, their interfaces are pretty plan. (Used to be anyways.)
From what they said about 1 year ago, if you are selling a product that the person can hold in their hand then you don't have to pay the Visa fee. That may have changed since I talked to them about it. It has been a while ago.

I'm still working on this! You all have made it a hard choice. Once the site is ready to go online, i'll definately have to choose...
