i thought we were suppossed to be smarter, better faster...?
Hey Everyone,
Ive recently posted here regarding rapidshare, sendspace and both google and yahoo groups distributing every-ones content for free.
I have spent a lot of my own time looking for my content in these groups and along the way have found tons of YOURS too. Im not some big time social networker, so when i come across full length postings of my colleagues' materials, I do my best to find a contact at the company or site and forward it onto them.
For a while I was sending notices to rapidshare or sendspace or whoever letting them know they were hosting someones copyright materials. But of course I can't send a formal DMCA since I'm not authorized to do so..but this is pretty obvious piracy... Video FULL Gay - Fr - M@x @u p@ys du M@nn3k3n
The strange thing is that most often I see no response to the message unless its a small company..One guy even told me to stop spamming him and then later on that day I saw a post in the group saying they had been threatened with a DMCA notice by the same person if they didn't stop (threatened?).
Ive posted these before in another thread but maybe that one was buried and nobody noticed (i sure hope...otherwise we are all fucked)
but I find stuff like this daily:

I don't know why, but the RS link for my catalogs of videos from various websites has changed. Here's the new one:
rapidshare.com/users/7J73JU
And here's the SS link again for the same files: sendspace.com/folder/v990lu

Now after a while I'm just strating to think webmasters and producers either don't care they are being ripped off, love the free promo or just don't have time to do anything (..since it takes so long to write a notice and fire off a couple of emails these days ;) Here I thought I was doing the right thing by trying to help out my brothers, but instead am losing faith in our industry's ability to get together and do something about the problem.
Maybe I missed out on something?
You don't have to be titan to do something about it and this shit is seriously out of control.
Cheers,
Jon
