Stuff I Wish I Had Bought or Done When First Starting Out

There isn't a day goes by that I don't wish I'd put some technique or product into play when I first started doing porn marketing. I can't begin to name all the different scripts I've tried that just didn't meet up to expectations, or stuff I thought "too expensive" would of saved my butt hours upon hours of development time, or taken the time to really learn how to use certain tools that would of resulted in better tracking, sales, etc.

I'm sure you all have "tried it, dumped it, shoulda done it this way" stories ... maybe we can share them and skip past all the blunders and time wasters and get into creating the ideal set of webmaster tools / techniques for adult sites! Whether it's about tgp, freesites, paysites, tubes, cam, whatever... share a little something about what you know works!

For me ... a generalized script to create cloaked affiliate links, sorted by sponsor, that I could edit in a couple minutes if some company folded, or changed billing processors and/or their links, that was server based and would track across ALL of my domains from one administration panel.

I regret not taking the time (yet) to learn how to use trade scripts and tgp software like Smartthumbs.

I use Fireworks and Dreamweaver: I should of also learned to use both Photoshop AND Flash with some competency. (Keep in mind I also run a design site, not every webmaster needs to learn all of these, but you should be able to use at least one html editor and one graphics program).

I still need to budget for and learn to use http://www.arylia.com/, especially now that version 3 has all sorts of video support.

Pick ONE free directory script and ONE that has layers of options pay for variety and stay with them! Continual use of a product = faster production as you do each new site!

I wish I'd bought http://www.cheapestadultscripts.com/...bsoftware.com/ --Blog Organizer-- before ever setting up blogs and run them all through that program from the get go.

I've got more, but I'll let others chime in and see if you guys have similiar "I wish I woulda's" ... :D

I wish I had submitted a photo of myself to HDK for model consideration.

of course if I had done that they would never let me go and I'd be stuck in front of the camera's for years with endless video release autograph sessions around the country/world , wild parties every night , and ... pop! , then I woke up! :tongue:

I believe everything happens for a reason and there's a reason I'm behind the camera and not in front of it. ( interpreted: I'll wait till HDK is desperate for models that way they'll have to take me! :scared: )

I wish i had bought more domain names when i first started out. At that time there were loads of amazing 2-word domains available, but they did cost a bit more. It would have been a small investment for some very valuable assets.

And i wish i had started much earlier and with more domains and paid hosting.

I wish i had started getting custom scripts developed a lot sooner than i did, we could have saved a fortune over the years it took for me to get the courage to have my first script custom programmed :(

There is a lot I wished I had done;) Hindsight is 20/20.

This year instead of looking back, I am looking ahead and trying to figure out how/where/ to get where I want by 2011.
