Blog post question...
Howdy Folks!
I have a question pertaining to blogs and their posts...
I have decided that I want to hand write my posts for my main (Hub) blog - Gay Porn Roundup. Now I have also decided that I am going to submit 3 posts per day, a combination of on-site galleries & clips. Okay, fine...
Question...
Up to this point my posts were feeds from my sponsor (Hey, Luke!). What I want to know is this: Should I keep the posts and just file them under say "Archives" instead of adding them to my new "Categories" since they are not hand written?
Also due you think 3 posts per day is a good amount?
Thanks - Jay

Hi Jay;
I do a lot of posts for clients, and 99 percent of them prefer one post every 3 days. I'm not sure if this is the perfect math for making sales, but since most of them request this right off the bat, I think they must know best.
I also had one client tell me that he didn't update his blog for a month, and found he made more sales from that then he did with fresh updates. I guess surfers get bored and begin clicking once they don't have anything new to see.
The best way if you ask me is to test the waters of your own blogs and see what works best for you. Every surfer is different and everyone's traffic differs.
As the the old posts, honestly I'm not sure what the best idea would be. if it were me, I'd make categories to put them into and make sure they were SEO driven.

Thanks for the response Teaser...I've been checking out some of the most popular blogs and it seems that between 1 to 2 posts per day or every other day are the norm.
I'm gonna take your advice and check out a couple of variations.
Thanks - Jay

Hey There,
Definitely archive the old posts properly - it doesn't matter so much that they were feeds, they'll add to your content library and now that you are writing for yourself, they will just add to the blogs density.
Blogging is a labour of love.
You'll put a lot of work into it before the results/sales are really tangible, but keep at it! Frequent updates are great as they get people coming back more often once you establish a following.
To start, if you can do three that's great, but I wouldn't beat yourself up if you could only manage 1 or 2 a day either.

A lot of bloggers say that they make a post every 3-4 days and that works fine for them. Some even make a post per week and also say that's pretty good.

I wouldn't rush into doing three posts a day right away. Start with one a day and then move up as the traffic picks up. If you start with three a day so much of your effort will just end up at the bottom of the pile.

On GayPornBlogNetwork.com we do about 5-10 posts per day. Here soon, we'll be subscribing to others RSS feeds and then changing things around, so we hope to quadruple that figure.
Doing more posts have dramaticly increased our conversions. Right now, we're at 1:50.

The responses show such a wide range of numbers of posts per day on a blog. I can only think two reasons for this: either it depends on the blog (any number of variables, including unique ones), or it doesn't matter how often a blog is updated. Not committing to either conclusion, but what else could one logically conclude with so many vastly different responses?
If you aren't used to handwriting your posts, you may be overestimating how many you can do. Ironically, it's easy for me to write a lot on my webmaster forum posts, but takes forever for me to write a post for my blog. Working on it.
