NASA finds possible habitable planets!

NASA's Kepler mission is being run to discover possible habitable planets, and they announced this week that they just discovered "six planets made of a mix of rock and gases orbiting a single sun-like star, known as Kepler-11, which is located approximately 2,000 light years from Earth."

Kepler has done an amazing job so far too. Among several hundred new planet candidates are 54 habitable zone worlds, of which five are "near Earth-sized". The remaining 49 are "range from super-Earth size – up to twice the size of Earth – to larger than Jupiter".

Don't ya just love reading news like this?

I'd just love to be able to live in a time when we could actually do space travel like we've seen on our sci-fi channel. Can you imagine standing on a planet with 3 moons? No idea what kind of havoc that creates with the tides, but it'd be beautiful to see the night sky with them!

Careful what you wish for! There could be something already living there, and changes are they won't like humans much..
