Neostrata Embraces Alternative Payment Options for French, Italian Markets

Neostrata Limited, owner of popular affiliate programs HunkMoney, BritishBucks and LatinoBucks, has embraced new alternative payment options by partnering with European merchant services company Webbilling to offer new direct debit payment options for its French and Italian customers.

“We have been working closely with Webbilling for about a year now, offering their alternative payment solutions to select European markets, with significant results,” said Luke Hubert, owner of Neostrata Limited. “So we were thrilled to hear that Webbilling was now providing new alternative payment solutions for France and Italy. I got in touch with Webbilling immediately and we worked together to get these new payments options rolled out to all our paysites in all three of our programs. And now, I believe we are the first all-gay programs to offer direct debit billing solutions to France and Italy!”

Neostrata has long recognized the importance of offering alternative billing methods to different markets. Since much of the European population does not use credit cards for online purchases, Neostrata has worked hard to secure non-card solutions so that its webmasters can now capitalize on all their European traffic.

Luke,

Would you recommend webbilling to others? I find the alternatives offered by my current processors lacking in ease and clarity and could do with something that is easy to use for Europeans.

Yes, its been a pleasure working with WebBilling, Joe & Ines are good guys and their tech staff are very helpful. They have easy to follow integration documents available for NATS 3 & 4.

Are you guys are using Epoch for your affiliate program? I am not sure if they are integrated into Epoch's cascade systems (I have never used Epoch's cascades). I will ask one of the WebBilling guys to respond here to help you out.

As you probably already know, webbilling.com offers Direct Debit (non-card) solutions for Germany, Austria, The Netherlands, UK, Spain, Italy and France as of now. What many people don't know is that as example for Germany, DD is still the "main" payment method and CC is more the alternative - it is just because the whole payment culture is so different over there.

Great move Luke. BTW do you have any stats about not card payments on your sites? It seems to me that really few people prefer that over CC but maybe it is just different in different countries.

I just checked my program stats for Jan & Feb. Webbilling processed about 5% of our new join transactions. This was before adding France and Italy for WebBilling, so this is only for Germany, Austria, Netherlands, and Spain.

We also offer phone billing on both of these programs, GXBill is averaging 3 - 4% of new transactions.

So that's around 10% of transactions going through non-CC billing.

It would be great to see others posting their stats on alternative billing too!!!

Good move. This is very convenient for European surfers.

I have recently read an article about credit card use in The Netherlands. Around 45% of the Dutch owns a CC and only 15% uses their CC at least once a month. I am not sure about other European countries, but I am sure Debit Cards are more popular there as well.

Like Ines said, the payment culture is just so different. People pay their mortgage/rent, insurances and utility bills by automatic billing. They use their debit cards at ATM's and in stores. For online purchases, people use iDeal (a great payment tool which works directly with your online banking account).

Most people just own a credit card to make online purchases at non-European sites and to use them on vacation.

Ines, is iDeal part of the payment solutions you are offering?
