Google acquires Zagat

Google announced today through its blog that it had purchased the USA restaurant guide / blble Zagat. They announced this with fanfare under the blog title "Google just got ZAGAT Rated!"

The blog says "Moving forward, Zagat will be a cornerstone of our local offering—delighting people with their impressive array of reviews, ratings and insights, while enabling people everywhere to find extraordinary (and ordinary) experiences around the corner and around the world."

The zagat.com website already features a huge splash page image of Google, plus the announcement news.
