FF7: lean and fast
Mozilla's hacks blog has released details on how Firefox 7 has improved itself to become a lean and fast browser. The new version of Firefox now commonly uses 20% to 30% less memory using a technology called MemShrink.
MemShrink technology was created by Mozilla a few months back. Thanks to the shorter release cycles, this technology took only a few months to get into the live product.
Firefox 7 also introduced other improvements. WebSockets are now enabled by default on mobile, for two-way communications with a remote host for HTTP, while the Canvas element for graphics has been updated for snappier performance.
