Berlin) The gruesome true story of a gay man who killed and then ate a willing partner he met on the internet is to be made into a film by gay German filmmaker Rosa von Parunheim.

Your Heart In My Brain is the story of Armin Meiwes who was sentenced to life in prison in January for the ritual killing of a computer programmer he met through a Web posting board. (story) The sentence is currently under appeal.

Police were tipped off by people who saw the posting. An investigation of Meiwes' home in the village of Kassel uncovered neatly packaged body parts in a freezer in the kitchen. Each package was labeled with the specific body part. In the back yard police found other body parts buried because they were presumed inedible.

Meiwes admitted to police that the parts had belonged to Bernd-Juergen Brandes who he met on the internet, but said that it wasn't murder because Brandes had agreed "to be slaughtered".

He told police that the two men had enjoyed a final meal together. Brandes had agreed to be castrated and the two sautéed his penis and testicles. They washed down the meal with a German white wine.

Meiwes also gave police a video tape he had recorded of the whole procedure. It showed that after the meal Brandes willingly allowed himself to be hanged from a butchers hook and slaughtered "like a calf".

During the trial Meiwes testified in his own defense saying when he ate the body he felt a part of Brandes was with him. It was that testimony which gave rise to the title of Parunheim's film.

The 61 year old director has shocked audiences for more than 30 years with outrageous films such as Can I Be Your Bratwurst, Please?

Praunheim first came to prominence in Germany in 1971 when his shockingly frank debut film about gay men who engage in anonymous sexual activities was shown on television and spawned a national controversy.

It was entitled It Is Not the Homosexual Who Is Perverse, But the Society in Which He Lives and was shown worldwide at film festivals.

At least one Hollywood film company is also reportedly negotiating with Meiwes' lawyer for movie rights, and while in prison the cannibal is penning his own story about his life.
