Hello All
My partner and I acquired gayvideos.xxx and have begun development as a tube site.
I know everyone hates a work in progress, but we are about 3-4 weeks away from decent launch.
I've worked in the industry and off over the years. It's good to see that GWW stood the test of time :-)
We wanna get the feel for the programs that work in todays age, touch base with other webmasters where we can develop mutually beneficial relationships and build a relationship with advertisers.
Please introduce yourselves and let me know what you do :-)
Obviously, being a tube, we'll be focusing on gay adult video websites.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Cec

We won't do business with anyone who has a .xxx domain. We've lost a lot of money from it, turned away affiliates, banned affiliate accounts, and will not do link trades with anyone who has a .xxx domain. We're also in litigation of suing a company whom "boycotted us" with a .xxx domain for trademark infringement.
Good luck trying to gain business with a .xxx domain.
I hate to sound this way, many are fighting .xxx. I'd say by the sounds of things 90% of the industry.

Sounds like a bad time for you to have been "on and off" as you seem to have made a huge mistake by spending money to acquire a .xxx
In the last few weeks near enough every single affiliate program worth working with have announced they will not work with an affiliates using .xxx domain names.
If you were planning to make this a legal tube site, with sponsor clips and advertisements your best bet would be to start over on a .com because it is going to be very, very hard for you to make any success of this new tube of yours.
If however you were planning to host stolen content on your tube then let me be first to say, good luck with the lawsuits!
If I was in your shoes mate, I would seriously re-evaluate investing anymore time into this project for yours.
Cut your losses, get a .com !

Good luck. I agree with the others... one of the worst domains to develop.
Not only will a lot of sponsors refuse to work with you, a fair number of directory owners have agreed not to take submissions from people who submit xxx domains. Other affiliates refuse to do link trades with xxx domains.
Since you don't have an existing network of sites, it will be hard to build up traffic to that site and your choice of sponsors will be very limited.

Wow
Thanks for all the replies. I was quite surprised with what has been transpiring in the industry. I appreciate the frank feedback :-)
This has given us (the partners) a lot to talk about the last few days :-)

How are you?
Trish here from ManSites.
Good luck with your site!

I agree with all of the above contributors, get a .com ASAP.
GayOnlyPorn along with most other directories will not list or promote any site with a .xxx domain.

Hi Cec;
Def agree with the others to focus on a .com domain, staying away from the .xxx. Welcome to the board and I look forward to getting to know you better. I head up the program for Badpuppy's PuppyCash, as well as handle all marketing and advertising both online and in print. Please let me know if I can ever be of assistance to you! :)
