Pirate Site took down my files!

Our friend Robert Chandler posted on the other-place-that-I-read-occasionally-but-am-not-pretty-enough-to-be-a-menber-of, about gay - bb.org that is a huge pirate site.

Indeed, for the first time, I actually found a pirate with good enough taste to carry my files! .wmvs of a lot of my newer stuff from the past year. Don't know where they got them from. I don't host my own VOD movies as I don't have a pay site. So they got them from one of the five VOD portals I partner with.

A lengthy DMCA later, they took 'em down - the whole list of 20! And after a couple of initial responses that were pretty slimy.

I also CC'd AUP@PayPal, and a few hours later, the PayPal links were off their payment page. The payment options they have left, cater to a handful of Russians

You mean I need to get a Russian proxy if I want to hijack your videos now? Damn!

I think the arrest of "dotcom" has scared a lot of these assholes into at least looking like they are complying with requests. It's not enough, but it's something at least.

I just wish Google would hurry up and start doing what they should have been doing years ago and actually demoting the pirates instead of "conveniently" ignoring they exist.

Congratulations, Nick. I spent the good part of a week trying to get my files taken off a site. They took everything. Finally got it all down. I signed up for the site and put a takedown notice on the thread with all my files. I emailed everyone even remotely involved. My server, Mojohost, was helpful with advice and who to email. Dominic Ford was supportive and Joe Schmoe told me about the site rip in the first place. Working like a team, we can protect our content.
