Gay Reality Sites 2 - What are the criteria?

We've developed our site and company over a 4 year period. We film guys in our home and provide that to our customers. We don’t over edit or script the scenes; what the guys say and do is what we show. Some guys come for one scene, and others come back over and over again. Some have even gone on to do “professional” work. Some are “straight”, some are “gay” and some don’t know what the fuck they want to do. We try to help them find out, and we film it all as we go.

I’m not sure what the criteria are for a “reality” site. But, that’s how we do things. We didn’t plan it out and then launch it. We started filming, and then we made up the sites and company from there.

It costs a boatload, if you want to do everything, and it takes someone who can wear many different hats. Here is a checklist (not necessarily in the correct order):

1. Find the right guys and convince them to work.
2. Film them competently.
3. Take photos too!
4. Develop the video into a presentable product.
5. Manipulate the photos for online AND print presentation.
6. Build a company to administer everything.
7. Build a competent web site(s).
8. Market the website(s).
9. Provide customer service.
10. Process orders for physical goods.
11. Take care of legal issues.
12. Take care of accounting issues.
13. Tomorrow morning, start over at step one, and don’t ever miss any of the steps.

And then, realize that you just forgot to list a couple of vital steps.

Any one of these steps could trip up the average Joe (or Jane). Even smart people like you continuously explore steps 7 and 8.

It’s no small task. That’s why you don’t see many genuine reality sites.

Honestly, you are one Sam! How many of your movies have I watched and got to know the model REAL up close and personal? hehe It's almost like a soap!

In the last few threads about reality sites one thing that has been mentioned several times is the cost for such sites.

Just so you know, a good reality sites cost is TOTALLY dependant on the content producer you utilize for the shoots.

You can make a reality site at a cost of anywhere between $5000-25000 us depending on who you use.

If you can sign in to more than 5 exclusive shoots to the initial 'per shoot' costs can be reduced dramatically too ;)

I think it depends on what the end product is going to be. Do you want a genuine site that actually features “reality”, or do you want to cull together a bunch of content filmed by other people (containing guys you’ve never met) and then package that as something it’s not. If that’s your goal, you can do it cheaply. I'll tell you from experience that most will sniff it out. But you may be successful.

I’ve never really explored the costs of buying content, so I can’t say what that will be. But, I can say that the real costs for me come from time spent on the business. I don’t know if you’ve put a dollar value on your time, but I can say that I spend upwards of 80 – 90 per week on my business. I’ve calculated that my time is worth (conservatively) $35.00 per hour. That comes out to $2,800 per week in just time spent.

My conclusion: You can throw together a charade site and deceive people to try to make a buck that way. Or, you can invest a great deal of time and money in the real thing.

With PatAndSam videos, you see REAL LIFE! I have seen about 8 of them I think. Each one, you see just how real it is. It's not like some of these documentry style sites.

e.g. Screaming Queen Play Top [HEY GUYS! I'm -Name-! I brought over this friend of mine that i met at the market! Let's see what he does!]

The thing I love about Sam's stuff and why I think he is a REAL reality site is that you never know what is going to happen. Serious, I've seen movies where that crazy ass cat of his walked in the shot. The models really talk, get to know each other. You can tell that it is NOT scripted. Plus you get to know the camra men (Sam). Not only does he talk to the models, but puts some funny comments in the movies too! :specs:
