What type of sale do you give highest priority ?
Aen/Avs - 1 and 2 year
Aen/Avs - recurring.
Sponsor (any type) - 1 time
Sponsor (any type) - recurring
Click thru's - a few cents a click
Maybe your focus is to just make a sale no matter what type ? If you prefer one over the other, do you make it obvious on your page. I usually feature the recurring programs more prominently.
My personal preference is a mixture of both PPS (Pay Per Signup) and Recurring.
The recurring sponsors help for when the PPS sponsors seem to be having a bad month.

Honestly, I'll sell a membership to anyone with a credit card. My bank takes all sales equally. Str8, gay, aen, clickthur, ect.
I would think that the hard part is, FINDING TRAFFIC FOR THE PROGRAMS YOU PROMOTE.
People are so fast to decide if a program is good or bad based off the conversion rates they see. I would bet that only 10% to 25% really put effort, if any, into going after traffic to convert the programs they currently offer. Whatever they may be.
Why join any program if your not going to activly go after the traffic to sell it...? Granted, unless you own a program, you most likey do not work full time in the porn business. Do they really think the traffic will just come to them because they have a site? HA! If that where true! The biggest part to making money in this business is knowing where your traffic is from and what they want. Why promote a twink site if 90% of your traffic comes from feeders that are looking for hunsky bears.
A good example of what I’m speaking about is the free site I own. DicksForFree.com. Half the thing didn’t work because I didn’t have time to completely write out all the php codes to handle everything. (by hand mind you) However, it sold over 100 members in 2 months to 1 sponsor it deals with. Bring in over $600 in comission in one, 30 day period. Keep in mind that there are only 4 that we activally deal with on a daily bases. I do spend a lot of my free time making ManCheck.com sites, and submitting to places like Metromen.com/tgp/, justusboys.com, cumsoda.com, cravemen.com, ect. (I have a bigger list for different traffic sources if you would like a copy.)
Sorry for this post being partly off the subject, but I’m sure someone would bring up some part of it at one time or another.

andymike, it's great to know that if you filter (maybe finesse is the word) you're traffic enough, you can still do very well. I am a member of a bear site, a twink site, and amateur site, and guba (newsgroup site) so it's quite possible that I joined one of these sites through a link or banner unrelated to the main content.
My hunch is that alot of people join sites through links that aren't necessarily related, maybe it's the "out in left field" appeal. Alot of freehosts are still around because they can convert sponsor links that vary tremendously. I think the straight freehosts are really good at converting bi curious males to gay sponsors.

Great point about traffic. Very well said.
The way to sell products is only if you can snag interested buyers. I would promote many more affiliate programs if I could - whenever I join one, I have to also figure out out to send traffic to it.

Thanks! I guess I'm just seeing people join all these programs and then just sit where like they don't know what to do... Wondering why they aren't making a sale.
If I have traffic that clicks a lot, but doesn't buy (convert) much for a $19.95 membership site, I'm going to pick a PPC program, if the traffic converts well for standard membership sites, I'm going to really push them towards a program that has great membership site.
It still goes back to where your traffic comes from. There are lots of great programs out there. JockCash, ManCheck, Pridebucks, Yanks Cash, and others...
They all do well with different traffic types. Jockcash and Pridebucks sites do well with traffic from MC. If I want to get paid from them, I'll build AEN sites. Yanks Cash, for me, does best with traffic that just clicks a lot. So I send more TGP traffic there.
Also, I'm always looking for new traffic sources. Can you ever have too much traffic? I guess what I'm saying is "Know your traffic, and what converts the programs you promote, but also be out looking for new sources." You never know when you might find that gold mine that makes you $1000.00 checks each month.
I'm sure you can also find some great info about it in some of lee's articals.
