yahoo refuses to give up email of dead soldier

the guy's family wants his email, yahoo wont give it to them... what a crock of shit.

Its illegal for them to give that info out without a warrant.

Just as i couldnt legally give out your ip address to anyone without YOUR consent or a warrant.

It's because of all the gay porn mailing lists they saw he was on.

I think it's absolutely appropriate for Yahoo to stand their ground.

What if there's stuff in that e-mail account he would never have wanted his family to see? I empathize with the family, but Yahoo has to stand firm on this one, failing to do so could cause a stampede away from their e-mail system as everyone begins to think "it's not confidential."

There is no way Yahoo should betray him by giving his family his email stuff. Personal mailers like that are to remain confidential, and no matter how much that family thinks they should be allowed to look at it, they're dead wrong.

I would NEVER want to read my dead family member's email. None of my business.

Not to mention, how do they verify that was truly his email account?

If they give this one up, then there'll be a flood of scammers sending Yahoo death notices in an attempt to gain control of accounts.
