Two teenage girls plotted the brutal stabbing deaths of a retired Fayette County couple in order to continue their forbidden romance, the lead investigator in the case said Thursday.

"These girls were cold-blooded killers, but they were not smart killers. Smart killers don't stay on the phone telling their friends what they've done and where they're going," said Lt. Col. Bruce Jordan of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.

Carl Collier, 74, and Sarah Collier, 73, were stabbed to death inside their Fayetteville, Ga., home Monday night. Their granddaughter, 15-year-old Holly Harvey, and her friend, 16-year-old Sandra Ketchum, have been charged in their deaths.

Jordan detailed the slayings for reporters Thursday, saying they had been planned for at least three days when Holly Harvey started calling friends in an attempt to find a gun. When she could not find one, she took three knives from the knife block in her grandparents' kitchen, he said.

Harvey snuck Ketchum into the house and, sometime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday, the girls started smoking marijuana, possibly to lure the grandparents into a basement bedroom, Jordan said. The grandparents confronted Harvey, who had one knife, as Ketchum, armed with another knife, waited under the bed.

Harvey was a troubled teen long before the killings, Jordan said.

"I found a poem written...but the poem talked about Holly's depression and the fact that she cried herself to sleep at night and that she wished for everyone to suffer the way she suffered and that all she wants to do is kill," said Jordan.

One girl was 15, the other 16. One sentenced to two consecutive life terms, the other to three consecutive life terms. Is this fair for two people under the age of 17?

Some people think Homosexuality in the media and lesbian porn has led these two very young girls to do this. The last 15 years or so it seems that violent crime is being comitted by younger and younger individuals who feel outcast from society.

Do you think it's a symptom of a flaud society that such young individuals feel so trapped and desperate at such young ages or do you think these kids are just the exception and are no reflection of our society? Do you think more acceptance of those who are different would curb this kind of behavior or do you think it doesn't matter what we do?

the more parents show their kids that violence is okay, the more children will grow up thinking that violence is the way to deal with things.

there is so much desparation around us - and so many more people. seems like this country is so full of anger, hatred and fear. on the other hand, the media makes it fun - look at natural born killers.

I know the crime was aweful, in fact it sickens me. But what I am stuck on is what happened to those little girls. You know that at one time in there life they were cute little babies, happy and sweet. What went wrong? Did someone hurt them when they were littler? This story makes my heart ache.

It's so easy for society to blame the industry for the worlds problems. But this shit has been going on for ages. The only difference is that all the dysfunction has bred a new society of kids. Child molesters and abusive parents have been around forever but think back to the 50's and before, you never heard about that stuff. Kids then were afraid to speak up. Not kids today. Today, they get pissed and yes some kill, some get into drugs other's are tossed aside and ignored though they scream for help.

These girls were screaming for help too. But the grandparents were in there 70's, and probably had the mentality that, "this behavior is immoral and wrong" bullshit.

I don't know how to fix the problems of today. After all it took years of dysfunction to create our society. But I know the solution starts with us. Be kind to the children of the wolrd. Let them be kids for as long as possible. Hear them when they speak and know they feel what they are saying is important and acknowledge that to them. Teach them morals and values.

No, it's not hypacritical for a person in porn to say they have such traits. At least that is what I beleive.

At the risk of sounding loopy.. I have to say I can see how this happened.

You have a young lesbian teen, who is living with her grandparents. Why? Probably because her parents threw her away, or have drug problems, and the girl was dumped with grandparents.

The girl, feeling abandoned and unloved is being raised by her grandparents. The girl finds love in another lesbian teen and has probably felt better then she has in years, possibly her whole life.

The grandparents are conservative, don't believe in Lesbians and restrict her from seeing the girl she loves. The grandparents, by rejecting their lesbian grandaughter, make her snap. Feeling the only relatives in this world who should love me don't, they don't accept me the way I am, and are stopping me from seeing someone I really love.

The girl she loves contacts her, showing how much she cares. The girl sees the only one in the world that truly cares for her is her new love. She's angry, upset, sad, etc. and takes out a lifetime of rejection and negative emotion by killing her grandparents. Gets 3 consecutive life sentences at age 15. Sad. Someone should have unconditionally been there for her.

Authorities have not been able to determine a motive.

"They were a very nice family. I never had any problem with none of them," said Warren County Sheriff John Williams, who said he knew the family personally.

9 YEARS OLD. He shoots his mother, leaves a suicide note apologizing for her death, then shoots himself. WTF????

I have a 9 year old. He can barely write to express himself well. I can't imagin this.

What do you make of this? I can't understand this. Can anyone explain this somehow? What are your thoughts?
