I didn't realize this was an issue in the marketplace.
For example, I bought:
bookstoreboys.com
and
bookstoreguys.com
I thought that both were quite viable for the GH niche.

Hi EvilChris.
Okay, I feel really dumb. What is the GH niche? LOL! I think both names sound pretty groovy. You could make bookstoreboys.com a Twink site and bookstoreguys.com more of a hunky hot man site. :)
Glory Hole (sorry i abbreviated it in ICQ to him hehe)Quote:

ooooOOOOOooohhh. I see. Thanks for clearing that up. But being that I'm a sweet, innocent, and virtuous lad, I have no knowledge of such things.
The only people that have an issue with "boys" is the straight community. Billing companies have banned sites in the past with "boys" in the URL.
I think this is wrong. You see straight website after website of teen girl this teen girl that.. mention teen boys and get banned.
I just registered teenboysinporn.com and was advised it might not be a good choice. None of the guys I use look anything close to underage ( I like guys with muscle ) so I'm not worried about it, if I decide to continue with that name.
Actually i have to disagree Squirt.Quote:

We have a few community members here who wont promote sites with the word 'boy' and even 'twink' in them because of the connotations they deliver :)

Lee
Yes this is a touchy subject.
In the Gay community... "straight boy" "Gay boy" "twink" always means young legal guys. I've never heard of them being pegged as underage.
Underage is "pre teen" or "young boys" isn't it?
And in case y'all don't know, in the gay leather community the word "boy" is not a connotation of age at all but that of a position of submission. The Daddy is the Dominant and the boy is the submissive. I know "boys" who are older than thier "Daddys", hell I even know women who identify as "boy". It's all in your perception, I guess.
i just faxed over a processing agreement to epoch for a site with 'boys' in the url. i was told it was ok, as long as i dont say young or underage or any of that shit.
and yeah, if processors ban boy, they have to ban girl, and they wont do that, because they make too much money from girls.
When I was with ProBilling their CC bank changed the rules and said no "teen boy" in the pages of a site. So , without notice, my processing was put on hold for Squirtit.com and I was told that "teen boy " appeared on my site somewhere... but where? They didn't know. So I searched and searched and found it in the meta tags .. go figure.
Ounique, interesting about the boy leather thing. Like I said, I always thought underage was pre teen or young boy shit like that. I really wish they could take every last cp site off the net. I don't see how they can still be processed for other then the fact that European processors don't see them as breaking the law because local laws are different. Sad

of course probilling were run by a bunch of total morons!
but yes, boy is quickly becoming frowned upon, personally I have absolutely no issues with it nor do my surfers, my best selling site has always been and is still boymegaplex.com
cheers,
Luke
Interesting feedback. Thanks.
We're good for that here, LOL. Nice to have you around. Not to mention having that cute avatar of yours. ;)Quote:

i don't like the word boy at all.
frat boy yes, but just "cute boys get naked" ... don't like it much
same goes for certain sites, esp ones that have really young looking models
I totally disagree with you. Look at the vast majority of sites that use the word "boy." I won't bother naming names, but there's a certain Russian boy site that springs to mind. They aren't marketing legal guys. They might say they are, but their air brushing artists are certainly going for that as young as we can get away with.Quote:

Where I do agree with you is things like Circuit Boys, muscle boys, leather boys, I would never think either of those meant underage.
What I also wonder about is that most of the "boy" sites, are they being marketed by straight or gay people.
I steer clear of the boy word as much as possible. I never use the teen word. And I prefer like-minded sponsors.
Dzinerbear
I tend to like the older "Daddy" types myself. Woof! :)
i dont even list any russian sponsors.
1) it's easy to pay $50-100 and get a fake ID 2) the models look like they're 15 even if they're 18, and either way they're not passing my mustard test. Having a 15 year looking model paired iwth a 50 year old guy is just giving me the creeps
We've refused photosets of models, even with legal IDs, if they look like they're too young. Too much risk.
I'm late as normal. When I was over at that live video site we used "boys" in the meta-tags and ccbill held our check until we removed it. We where told that we could us BOIZ, but not boy, boys, or young boys. (Even though most of the site was 18-21 year old twinks.)
When we tried to use some of the names that we have for membership sites, we where told no by our bank. So it's not just the 3rd party processors. The only thing that you can now do with the name BOY in it is traffic sites... Or move off shore and use a processor that doesn't handle US cards. :bomb:
It's all a load of crap!
I use the following words/phrases all the time:
"boys night out", "hi, boys", "what are you boys up to?", "the boys are coming over", "where's all the boys?", etc...
If I'm feeling really pink and faggy I'll substitute the word "girls" instead of "boys". :beauty:
Yeah, I don't see why you couldn't use the 'boys' one for more twink-ish guys and then the 'guys' one for a little more muscular or hunky guys.....
LOL!!! You're too much. :presley:Quote:

I agree with you there. I've registered teenboysinporn.com and it will have guys like on Squirtit.com.. guys with healthy bodies and some muscle, if I decide to continue that sites development.
The reason "teen boys"? Because teen boy is a very popular keyword, and seeing healthy guys in their late teens early twenties is what most of those people are looking for. I know I wouls be if I typed in those keywords.

Evil Chris - a lot of straight men use "boy" to denote any gay man. gay men don't. if you use boy, the guys featured in your site should be 18 - 22 years old.
otherwise stick with guys or men.
The Goddess has spoken!
a-m - please don't pick on me :-( i've had a rough day, involving the dentist, and a herd of ants. i know, i know - ants don't usually travel in herds, but these did...
but i really hate sites that say they're GAY BOYS and the sites are 35 years old or huge muscle hunks. does not "boy" say under 25 to you in general, outside of guys with baby faces and the fetish community?
Awwww, baby. I wasn't trying to pick on you. It was a good point. I had a few drinks tonight so I'm feel'n frisky.
Honestly, when I think of "boy" I think of 12-20 year old guys.
Why are you such a pussy? When someone says a "girls night out" do you think of 12 year olds...NO! So why are you afraid of another word "boy"? Guilty in your mind perhaps...I think so! If I say the phrase "boys night out" do you have the same image?
Well then...who has trained YOU to think this way? We are only talking about a word after all...I guess the thought police got to you.
To bad how sad.
It is a word...get over it!!
BOY
It is what YOU make of it in YOUR mind...
Nothing more or less...if you feel like a pervert because it turns you on or makes you feel guilty then it is YOUR problem! BUT don't censor the rest of us!!
That is Bush's Job!!
who are you talking too? It depends on how you use the word yes, but when someone asks me what's the first thing that pops in my head when they say boy, kids are what I think....
Funny thing is, we're all discussing it, like there is an option of using it. If ya live in america and own a company here, ya can't. (Unless you where in there before Visa's mood swing)
MiamiB - reality calling! search123 and many other search engines won't let you use the words "boy" or "girl" - nor will some tgps and link lists. whether you think the webmasters who comply are pussies or not, we're in business to make money, and if you create a site with a name that certain traffic sources will not link to, you're missing ca$h.
andymike - i'm sorry to be so over-sensitive tonight. *HUG*
I don't think we're being pussies. I don't know how old you are, but I'm 42. I come from an era when gay men were demonized as pedophiles. And a lot of the world still thinks of us that way.Quote:

Read this article: http://www.clga.ca/Material/Records/...non/ox/mbm.htm
It sparked a huge outcry from the public when it was written in 1978. Many of us still carry that sensitivity with us.
And the fact is, in my country, and probably yours, a policeman only has to believe that model doesn't look of age (fuck the 2257 info that says he is) in order to walk into your premises and seize everything. Then you're in court, and if the judge finds in your favour, the cops don't even say they're sorry. But you've spent a heap of money defending yourself.
So, it's more than just a casual word for me.
dzinerbear
Why do webmasters even take chance with questionable wording? We are under such a bright spotlight already. It makes no sense to me.
Dzinerbear, I was going to reply to this but you said it best. It's just too risky to mess around with these things.
And for those of you who are not familliar with Basschick, she knows what she's talkin' about. Don't mess with her or you'll have to answer to me. (puffs up chest to look big and menacing). :)
girl's night out or boy's night out can be the same thing.
cute young boys get naked, on a porn site, tottaly different in my opinion
ooooooo! don mike - you're my hero!
by the way, MiamiB - calling your fellow webmaster pussies may not be the best way to make them want to do business with you. but for what it's worth, pussies have given me some very pleasurable hours, so i don't think calling someone a pussy should be an insult.Quote:

I'm sorry but some of your are totally missing one basic fact. The only people that really have a problem with the Gay community using boy is the straight community. As many have stated in this thread, boy is a term that's part of our culture and is used somewhat like the African American term "girlfriend" ( as in "girlfriend please" or "girlfriend you need to find yourself a man" etc. )
Need I remind you of one of the most successful porn ventures lately created by a heterosexual man " girls gone wild " ?
Now Ibill processes for girlsgonewild.com , do you think CCBill will process for them? If they wont, they still both go throught the same merchant bank. I bet they will... but they wouldn't accept the domain boysgonewild.com according to Andymike???
This is a complete double standard created by antiquated fears in the heterosexual community of homosexuals being pedophiles. Plain and simple. If we aren't doing anything wrong on our sites we have nothing to fear.
NOTE: After Andymikes comment about CCBIll not processing for domains with "boys" in it I decided to do some digging and found quite a few that CCBill processes for ( I did a google search for *boy*.com ccbill ) . Some of which have discustingly young looking guys: dutchboys.com , sugarboys.com , gay-boys.us , goldenboysusa.com and many many more.
Now I'm really confused. But I do know one thing.. a name is a name.. the sites contents and the image they protray is what matters here, not the word boy. My $0.0002
young boys is not acceptable to me.. but teen boys is. If the guys look underage on a site it's not at all ok, no matter what the name is.

Okay, I finally get someone to say this to me, and it's a het woman (well, almost het, hee hee). Hey, I'll take what I can. If I was gonna be anyone's hero I'm happy it's you Patti. :)Quote:

I think they where grandfatherd in because of already having processing in place before visa changed everything.
I think I remember reading that in the trade papers when it first happened. I'll see if I can find it.
well having just submitted a site to paycom with boy in the domain & title, i guess we'll see what happens.
i use the word because i see nothing wrong with it. and i will defend my right to use it, as long as 'girl' is acceptable. simply put, i dont see how they can ban one without banning the other. and ill fight them all the way if they try.
then again im just a bitch like that, so i hear.
