This is my first post. Am I the only lesbian site owner here? I don't know. But I hope I will be welcome. I actually came here specifically to ask this question:

I have had some correspondence with a male model who poses nude for gay magazines. He says he is straight. I have no problem believing that - why not? he has the right kind of body for it.

The answer there is to diversify, not to go to further, unhealthy, extremes. Creating new niches is great as long as you're not taking yourself, and your business, somewhere you don't want to go. I think people go through stages in relation to porn. People do find love/relationships, and end up not needing porn so much. Actually cj, I hate to pidgeon hole people, sexuality or anything else. I certainly dislike being pidgeon holed myself so why would I wish to really do it to any one else? Also I think that Fatale Media might hire a "straight" porn star under certain circumstances - what they wouldn't do is use her talents in the way they are usually used.

I do not identify myself as a lesbian either by the way. Maybe bisexual with a bias would be more accurate.

I hope that my latest post will help clarify my position.

Historically (herstorically for those that favour the term) a large section of the women's' movement has campaigned against porn. And many feminists still do. It is a very emotive issue for them. They almost always focus on the bad and disregard the good.

It's the same in any part of the entertainment industry. People see riches and fame when they get paid to be in front of a camera. How many major porn stars are getting steady work after 5 years? There are a ton of stories from adult stars who say their life has been a string of abuse - and yet they continue to return to the source of the abuse. I do work in adult & I wish to continue doing so. I do however have some serious misgivings about how certain sections of the industry are currently operating - I'm sure that must be obvious. The industry has done a certain amount to clean up it's act and in doing so has gained a greater acceptance from society as a whole - however there is still a very long way to go.

In the past I feel I have been guilty of just trying to make money. I have found that now I am thinking a lot more about the ethical aspects of what I am doing I have actually started making more money.

The first thing is that I was specifically asking about straight guys having gay sex in porn. Solo stuff is completely different. If an adult person is posing naked on their own then their gender & sexual orientation are of no particular consequence. They will be attractive to anyone who finds them attractive.

I've reached my own conclusions about this now. They may be straight in everyday life, but if they are having consensual gay sex including having orgasms, & even if they are only ever gay for pay in front of a camera then they are some kind of bisexual. A Norwegian woman has been speaking to me recently about this. In her language they have two different words for bisexual. She says - "They are biseksuell and bifil. Bifil is someone who can get physically and emotionally attracted to both men and women."

We market the guys as being straight mainly because we're trying to differentiate ourselves from gay sites - or sites that are supposed to be for women but feature gay hardcore in them. But of course there's no way of knowing.

I think that's a little unfair that comparison to say the least cj. but I guess you think I'm being a bit holier than thou or something. If I have to take it to an extreme - it is our business if someone chooses to live their life as active *********, or for that matter a rapist, isn't it? Or do you think we should just let them get on with it?

I can only assume the standard industry pay rates apply with those kinds of hardcore sets, which are that women always get paid more than men, and that if you're new and in off the street, you're probably not paid a huge amount.

We mainly license our content, but we have produced some of our own. After promptly dismissing the ex-Boss model who told us he wouldn't get out of bed for less that $1000 a day, we opted for the two good looking, nice guys who would work relatively cheaply. We did a lot of reassuring that the photos were not for a gay site... that was quite important to them.

No plans to shoot our own hardcore yet - it's just so expensive and easier to license sets at present. But if we did, I believe we'd pay each model equally. Even if the focus was more on the man, I would want to give them both the same amount of money, just in the name of fairness.
