BTW, apparently the powers-that-be have some formula that weights the value of a communication from a constituent. Perhaps to counteract the attempts by various groups to flood senators with emails/formletters/etc to improperly influence legislation.
Hand written letters count MUCH more than printed letters, which, in turn, count more than emails. So anyone sending correspondence should take a few minutes and send a handwritten letter.
And another way you California guys can get your representatives to listen to you more - if they all were not in gerrymandered safe districts which will keep them returning until senility. If and when you guys have that ballot initiative from your governor this upcoming November to get an unelected board to draw Congressional seats, please vote for it.
If their seats are competitive, they will read their mail a lot harder.
Texas will hopefully get that in two years.

Conservative Groups Rally Against Gonzales as Justice
If hardcore conservatives hate him this much, maybe he's not so bad. Or, at least, he's bad, but not for the reasons we think.
I think Gonzales might be "squishy" on issues the hardliners hold near and dear. That's why they hate him so much. I'm beginning to think he might not be all that solid on the 2257 issue because it seems like conservatives are completely out of the loop.
If this was something he really cared about, shouldn't he be out there promoting it to Bush's Bible-thumping base? They don't seem to know about it yet.
I'm not sure what to make of this. But I do think we should all step back and look at the big picture and try to figure out a way to use this to our benifit.
The only thing I'm sure of is Gonzales' "war on porn" isn't as popular as I thought it was.
