Canadian Webmaster Adding Visa to my CCBill

it's obvious you haven't done a search but i'll be nice and recap what i've said in other threads.

it's easy and fast to set up a u.s. corporation - my friend did it to work with epoch. first you incorporate, then you get a tax i.d. number. that's it. i'd suggest a u.s. bank account, too - he got his with a canadian bank that offers u.s. accounts.

he went to http://www.corporate.com/ to incorporate and it was quick and easy (took less than 20 minutes) and not too expensive. a nevada corporation is good for 2 reasons that i know of:

1. nevada does not require that you be there and hold corporate meetings as other states do

2. nevada is a fairly porn friendly state.

Nevada also has fees for EVERYTHING. The fees that you see on the online sites are not all-inclusive, no matter what they tell you. The first surprise will be a $125 fee to register the names of officers/directors. You get hit with that one after you have completed all the other filings. I speak from experience on Nevada, as I still own a Nevada company and go through all the paperwork every year, and pay all the fees. There are good reasons to be in Nevada, but you should decide which state to incorporate only after some research and applying the specific facts of your business to the options available. I have not set up a Nevada company for anyone in a long time because there are often better options. I recently set up a Wyoming company because it best fit the needs of the client.
There are options for having nominee directors, principals, and shareholders in some states, and yes you are going to pay just to use that person's name under the scenarios presented. It is just another necessary evil cost of doing business.

You may have come across one of the few honest places. That form is required post-filing, usually 2 weeks after the docs come back from the NV secretary of state. The company you used may have actually included that fee up front and handled it for you.

As far as Bedfellow is concerned, it's not uncommon for a website's URL to be different from the holding company, in fact it usually is different since companies often own more than one website. And in fact if you look on Bedfellow's site, you'll see they're owned by JRK Entertainment.

PERFECT. Thanks everyone. I had done a search in the forums but the laws in the US seem to be changing on a daily basis lately. A couple of months ago Canadians weren't even going to be able to FLY OVER the US without going through American customs at the airport. Luckily they changed that at the last minute.

I'm going to go through the incorporation process then and I'll report my results here. Hopefully that will help someone else. Thanks.

One other alternative to consider rather than incorporating in the US..

Why not setup a company in Europe?

It costs about the same and, you dont get to worry about Visa fees.

or just go with verotel for now. they may not be my favorite processor, but they do seem to have a long track record of paying.

You go girl, they are not the best, but one of the best choices available to easily fix this problem ;)
