In all honesty retaining members is not really that big of a problem for me, I keep about 65-70% of them “not sure what the average is” but resonantly my sales have been very hot and cold, mainly only spanking around payday the 1st and 15th of the month. I personally think their are many factory why it is harder to make a living selling to gay traffic, but like everything the truth is in the middle. Personally I believe the biggest problem for all of us this the devaluation of pictures and proliferation of free content at every turn. As it become easier and easier for everyone to get what they need too get off for free less and less people are going to be willing to pay for anything long term at all. In 10 years going at this rate with out some major advances in paid content features most of us will have to look for other work or just survive on allot less.

Well that's a negative stereotype if I ever heard one. People who are reduced to paying for website memberships are "married closet cases" ? Why not also say that Jews lord over their money, and Mexicans are lazy? Or gay people molest schoolkids?

Also - does your question imply that as someone who is not a married closet case, you are enlightened enough to be stealing all your porn without paying for it?

No! I agree that maybe its cuz gay people who are out don't care and just hookup online for releif as someone mentioned earlier! When I say closet cases I dont mean it in a mean way so don't get all sensitive on me missy! I was once closeted lol. I am just trying to say that's their only releif possibly to just look at gay sex online.

Well I guess I know what you mean.... discreet. But I wouldn't draw those conclusions. Maybe someone wants some gay porn because they are married to a girl. Hell, there's plenty of guys who probe into porn as a release from their boyfriend.

I can also utilize my friendships with escorts to say that, yes, many of their paying clients are older, married guys being discreet.... but it's inaccurate to stereotype. There's also plenty of guys who are openly gay, young and old, cute and ugly, fat and thin, who choose to lay out thier cash for a night of sex. That's the beauty of the market.... your options are endless! All to match an endless array of tastes.

I guess your topic has touched nerves! Oh well.... sometimes making things dicey keeps it interesting.

Maxie you really do have a knack for being a pratt. Am I happy? Damn straight boy, I have a great life. I have a wife who loves me for the last 10 years now, and I have a job that excites me, challenges me and makes me a very nice income. Fact is Sean, you think everyone is as narrow minded and paranoid as you obviously appear to be. Thing is, many of us live happy lives without the drama you seem to crave, simply because we are too busy enjoying life itself. Whether its going skiing or walking along the breakwater or redoing flooring, we enjoy our lives and the people in them.

Desslock has given tons of advice and then there is Lee with his articles and just having this board, not to mention Luke and his 2 cents worth now and then. The help is there Maxi if you bothered to look for it instead of attempting to impress.

As for myself, I have given plenty of time in helping people. I am not ashamed of my sites or work either, unlike you who won't tell anyone what site you have that retains 70%. Though if you have 800 dead accounts one has to wonder how you can claim that figure, but hell, not like we care really.

Not me that is the unhappy camper here Maxie, you just don't know how to play nice with others.

I'm just gonna touch on the original thread. I believe gay surfers are just not finding what they want. Think about how diverse the sexual appetite is for gay men. It's vast to say the least. Now look at what's out there. One type of guy. The typical v shaped, athletic, model fucking or sucking the typical v shaped, athletc, other model. Sure, there's alot of guys that like that and that's great but for millions of gay men who find that boring, there really aren't that many sites out there that cater to tastes outside that realm. The gay side is so homoginized and generic, no wonder gay guys are tuning out and hooking up instead.

That's a very good point! I am not familiar with vintage porn but I think alot of hot guys are doing porn now cuz they are more open-minded to the idea. we see alot of "hot" guys on all the gay porn sites out there. The golden question here is what's the next hot thing?

I think of porn products as food products. What do people like to eat? Some people enjoy stopping to eat at Wendy's, while others detest it. Food choice is a matter of taste, and not really something you force or pursuade someone to like.... either it tastes good or it doesn't.

Some people happily spend their money on a membership to Sean Cody, while others would prefer AWOL Marines.

And food illustrates just how broadly just one single item is consumed. Never mind all the kinds of foods; just look at hamburgers. Here in Austin, if I want a hamburger I can go to McDonalds and spend two bucks on one. Or in contrast, I can go to East Side Cafe, a cozy gay-owned restaurant and spend $8.00 on one. Now what do I get out of "hamburger" that makes me sometimes pay four times the price of McDonalds? or Wendys... or even Chili's, etc......

And with all the places to buy hamburgers in this town.... is it still possible for an entreprenuer to open up a new restaurant that serves hamburgers? Sure! So even though we might consider one type of market in the adult business saturated, I think it's plain that the comsumers' appitities are never filled.

That means even if something's been done a million times before, any one of us could awaken tomorrow and build a twink site that will go gang-bang-busters.

The adult market products, like our websites, are perfect opportunites to add all kinds of value. That means you can offer something exactly like everyone else, or strike out with your own distictiveness simply by how your organize your site and select your content...but I think you have to have a specific consumer in mind.

Of course, I will always go back to the East Side Cafe for their eight dollar cheeseburger. Everyone around you is eating their enchiladas verde or grilled mahi mahi with glasses of wine. (everything there is great, it's a great first date restaurant)

But their cheeseburger is incredible.

They use this absolutely flawless grade of beef. They cook it any way you want it. The lettuce and tomato was picked out of their organic garden earlier, so its perfect. The physical burger is huge and cheesey.... not greasy mind you... it's exquisitely prepared Then you substitute the home fries with a leafy green side salad topped with their own creamy feta salad dressing, and you have one supurb meal. :thumbsup:

what really does my head in is.. who subscribes to "shemale" & "girls fucking guys" sites? They are clearly not targetted towards a gay audience, even though most people here would probably agree that guys cross dressing and getting fucked up the ass is pretty damn gay.

All the big str8 programs with 50 billion cookie cutter sites have a ton of shemale sites so they must convert.

The only thing i can rationalize is this.. as long as there is a girl, or the concept of a girl somewhere in the picture, then its "not gay".

However, trannies are very popular south of the border. Brazil Mexico
