I wish the CCbill guy would say something in my thread about this? Can I have a site called dadsboys.com as long as I watch the text I use in the site? :uhoh:
here's a thread from 2003 that talks about using boys vs guys terminology - and resulting difficulty from assorted venues for those that had boy or boys either in domain name, text descriptions, metatags, etc.
It may prove enlightening, it may not
guys vs boys an issue?

Ya I looked at it bec, and people are still as confused about the word “boy” now as they where 3 years ago. I can see banning “pre teen boys, underage boys, young boys, teen boys even, but just boy NO I think most of the people that do not like the word boy also do not like the word twink as well, they just have a problem with guys 18-24 and think all nudes should be 21-25+ at least. That is their opinion, but I hate bear stuff, but I do not go around and try to get it banned, or support anyone that would want too. Even the word “kid” can be really bad but if you say club kid then its totally different. I think just banning words is stupid and lazy, each site should be look at as an individual site. If a processing company has a problem with me using the word boy in a legal site then I will find another one. And if that same company lets people use the word girl on any sites then I might think about suing them. We are all way to quick to turn on each other, and accept being treated differently, just because we are gay, and some people would provably want to have that word banned too, if we let them. :shifty:
The largest str8 women’s site is playgirl, and I think I have heard of a site called playboy as well. When these sites and magazines are forced to stop using the word boy and girl then I will stop too, but until then they can bite me. ;)
i think the main difference there is that playboy is using its own merchant account and not an ipsp :goofy:

Maybe I will need in the future to get my own merchant account just so I will have the freedom to create sites in the manner I would legal like to, but having enough money should not be a determining factor in ones ability to express ones self :shifty:
do what you want...
we've tried to advise you...
in 2006 and forward - you won't find USA based cc. processing if you have the word boy in your domain name - or in the text of your adult site...
no matter how carefully you word things - the cc. software pulls words from their violation list - and no matter what sites did in the past - YOU won't get away with it in 2006 and forward...
don't waste your time... there's plenty of other things you can do where your time, energy and effort will result in $$ instead of legal hassels... and building something that will land you in a ton of legal trouble... if you move forward with the "boy" idea - all you are doing is working your ass off to make money to turn over to the legal system...
I could care less if you agree with me or not... I have been in the adult business for more than 10 years... what was once upon a time - is no longer possible in 2006 - for a new site starting up...
why don't you work smart - get the list of violation keywords / topics
FROM a legitamate processor - and abide by those rules instead of trying
to find a way to get around them... if a keyword / topic is OFF LIMITS
it's off limits... they could care less if it's a subject of personal interest to you... surely you have more areas of interest than the one...
and stop buying stupid domain names that are of NO use to you...
It pisses me off when people with experience advise a noobie and the noobie is unable to OPEN their eyes - and LISTEN to whats said... we have no reason to dissuade you - other than our experience - and wishing to try to help you - to try to protect you...
if you move forward with the "boy" idea - that's entirely up to you...
stupidest thing I've seen so far this month... but hey - I guess you have multi-thousands to spend on legal defense and perhaps a wish to do "jail" time...
whatever...
(can you tell I am angry... ?? - I am... stupidity ANNOYS the F*ck out of me...)

I really hope you are joking with that, scare tactics are not going to work on me baby, as well as 30-40% of the other webmasters that use that word in the title of their sites. I understand that companies like yours have purchased a huge amount of .com in hopes too over charge us all when in your opinion hopefully more of us will be forced to change our .com because of some stupid rules, but its not going to happen. You are the same one that said all this BS over 3 years ago and did it happen NO. I would like to see the Ccbill guy comment on this, but if they move to such a rigged standard it would open the door to them become a less and less used processor in the future. I see no resident to the word girl only boy, if the are going to outlaw LOL the word boy then the same should apply to girl, then hell why not do the same with twink, young, freshmen, cheerleader, ECT this could go on and on until you can say nothing at all. As well no domains should be sold with that word in them, and all webmasters should have their investments returned. People have been saying this for years and years, but I do not see any sites with the word boy being taken down from Ccbill or any other processor, yesterday, today or tomorrow. :chicken:
The joys of being gay, of being an adult webmaster, and the current regime in Washington hell bent on punishing all those who have a different viewpoint.
Sean, you really should read the latest speech by your Attorney General Gonzales and his zeal for wanting to supposedly shut down all possible instance of CP. It might alter your willingness to jump into the frying pan he has ready for those who don't use some judicious self restraint.
ccBill and any other US based processor doesn't make the rules by themselves. It is VISA and MC who dictate a great many of what terms are and aren't acceptable. While in theory I agree that a person has the right to say or call their site what they wish, a Credit Card company has the same right not to provide service to something they find objectionable or perhaps actionable against them. Their interests aren't going to be yours or mine.
If you read the proposed new legislation, there is a lot of stuff that makes sense, such as use of hidden text, of using false sounding names to entrap children or in fooling the search engines into giving your adult site to those searching for children sites. Use of the word 'boy' is tempting fates even if it is innocuous. dadsboy is one such term that could be considered an attempt at seducing a young boy. these are things any adult should consider and while your intent is different than the perception, it is partly your responsiblity not to foster misconceptions.
:coffee:
But I still not see the word “boy” being flat out banned, is all, I know the dadsboys site might be a bit to edgy, and will cross that bridge when I get there “after all a new domain is easy to get” I will make a site like that with the same pics and vides, but might have to play with the wording if I have to, but it no worse that about any others I have seen. It would also be the last site I make, and we will have a new president by then. I just don’t think its a good idea to run around and say the sky is falling, if the are going to make a move on sites with the word boy in it they will go to the largest one they can find first to make a point, but it is really not going to stand up in court and they know it, that’s the only reason they have not done it yet.
you'd be surprised at the words visa has on its list Sean... and I doubt they'd (DOJ) go after the biggest site. They would know such a site could mount a defence, so they'd go after the small obscure site, to get the conviction thru plea bargain or lack of funds for defence... they want convictions and precedent... and they would stand a much better chance against a small potatoe than a big enchilada.
but is 'boy' itself banned, in my view, no it isn't banned. it is a flag though and unwanted scrutiny is the result. Some will play it totally safe and ban the site or deny its acceptance. If they know the site owner they might not be so quick though, its a judgement call on their part.
it isn't a consistent thing, i know of some aen's that have refused sites not because of boy in the name but in the sponsor name... in the reviewers view it was too risky.. its a judgement call as I say.
Thank you :) I knew their is no way in hell they could banned the word “boy” like Beach Boys as an example. I few directories are always going to be unfriendly towards twink sites, but that is just what you deal with making twink sites. As far as the going after the small companies first, cuzz it would be easy, I really don’t think it would work that way. The first case like this anyone they go after would have the support of the free speech people and many other, so the attorneys fee’s would be covered, and it would not look good in court for them to start off by going after some “small” guy. That is some of many of the reasons they about always start with the biggest companies first with this kinda legal tests. :plod:
When I do straight stuff I never use the world girl in any context and same deal with boy with gay sites. Even though I know and you know that boy can mean an adult I don't want anyone surfing for the words looking to make trouble for a webmaster to stumble on one of my sites.
