On the adult side of my biz I tend to go with programs that I've found through the boards; obviously not all but a pretty big portion.
On the mainstream side of my biz this hasn't been the case at all. In fact its a rare day that I'll go to a mainstream board.
Absolutely -- for most of the reasons already given! I'm always telling guys that are starting up to be sure to register on various boards and POST. It's the cheapest most effective way of doing business with the very folks that will provide longterm traffic and a steady paycheck.
Yes, and the two reasons I am more likely to promote it is because 1) I have now heard of the site and 2) there is often some discussion about the site (which at least means someone is interested enough to try to promote the site). Still, I spend a lot of time comparing sites/sponsors and looking for comments about sponsors in a web search before promoting a new site/sponsor in a marketing campaign.
