Controversial Study on Homosexuality

Your point is psychologically valid but its premis is flawed.

A person in a wheelchair who was paralized at birth has the same rights as a person paralized later in life, as do people who may chose to become paralized at some point. These people are protected based on their minority status, not when, or how, they became a part of the minority.

We all know that most the people treating us unfairly and discriminating are NOT the people who respect, and in many cases, don't acknowledge, scientific fact. I have doubt that people who don't understand evolution, but instead think God made everything in 7 days, will understand that homosexuals are made naturally, not created out of man carnal perversion. They will simply say that God is not Gay and God made man in his image.

As for the rest of the world... oh my, maybe when child slave labor is abolished and women have equal rights they'll take a moment and think about not hanging the next Gay man they find in the public square... though I doubt it will stop them.

For the rest of the world to catch up will take, without exaturation, HUNDREDS of years, unless we succeed in world domination and pummel them into submission. :catfight:

Studies about the origin of homosexuality are HUGELY important to our civil rights. WE don't need the studies to validate ourselves, but sadly, the rest of the world does. It's like Brokeback Mountain. A lot of gay people hated it. But it wasn't really for us to begin with. We don't need to be taught a lesson about how bad societal oppression and homophobia is, but the rest of the world does.

A lot of us who are out and who have been out for a long time... it must be said... we live in a bubble. We're OUT damn it, and we develop this sense of entitlement and this sense of liberation that comes from living in cities where there are a lot of gay people. We want our equal rights NOW, damn it, and we dismiss anyone who doesn't see it the way we do. But we have to think outside "the gay box" and take into consideration that the rest of the world -- sadly -- is just not as evolved and self-aware as we are. :)
