I make it clear that I'm not a "hands on" photog. I don't mix business and pleasure. But if the model is a rentboy, I might make a separate deal after the shoot.
I've only had one non-rentboy model come on to me, and that was well after the shoot.
Is it that hard to use common sense and show *some* respect for the model ?
When my parents thru my brother into the street, I had enough faith to put him at John's ( miamistudios) house , knowing he might make porn ( he did, lots) but he would not be touched, or even offered drugs. He went untouched the 2 and half years he lived there. Smart business too, I'm sure the films made them good money, and he never worked for anyone else .

A few clarifications about my business model.
First of all my site is mostly about Jake Cruise, a middle aged regular Joe, getting to service or have sex with hot guys of all legal ages. Notice I said "Jake Cruise" and not "me." The reason is that I'm not Jake Cruise. In real life I don't have sex with a ton of hot guys. Those who know me know that my lover and I will soon celebrate our 18th anniversary. And I'm Cuban, not the anglo I play on the internet. (yes, I speak fluent Spanish)
So I'm a producer, a director, AND an actor playing a character. Just because I produce and direct doesn't mean I shouldn't act - even poorly.
For anyone out there who doesn't produce porn and thinks that the guys performing are having a great time, here's a secret. They probably aren't, at least not to the extent you think. It's all in the editing.
So when you see me giving a straight hunk a blow job, or getting fucked by a stud, or whatever, keep this in mind: I have 9 full time employees that depend on my cock getting hard, staying hard, and performing. All during the shoot I have to think about directing the scene, problems with the server, what's going on with the DVDs we're producing, an employee who isn't working out well, etc. Since I'm not a masochist I don't actually enjoy performing on camera. But it's my job and someone's gotta do it.
As for prostitution, well, whatever! I can't believe that anyone even thinks this can be an issue. We make our living off of porn. We're in the sex business. If someone wants to prostitue him or herself, that's their business.
Maybe I'm taking the comments on this post the wrong way. But it seems to me that several posts imply that prostitution, in whatever form it takes, is wrong. If a producer has sex with a model off camera for money, that's prostitution. If a banker hires a guy from Rentboy to have sex for money, that's prostitution. If a producer hires a performer to have sex with him on camera as part of his business model, that may be considered prostitution.
So the question I have is: Is anyone here ready to say that prostitution is immoral? If so, speak up.
Jake, I don't believe many of us would counter much of what you are saying. The point I was making is that a producer who uses his position to get sex with a model or wants to 'test drive' a model is doing something wrong. I have worked with a number of guys that have been in situations where they feel pressured to have sex with an employer inorder to get the gig. Very old 'casting couch' crap. That sort of behavior is indeed wrong.
I agree that producers should not have sex with models unless it is for a shoot, and producers should not sleep with models to "interview" them.
I also believe that prostitution should not be a crime and that whore is not a bad word.
