Bec..I just finished the application for my Mom's Medicaid. What a pain-in-the-ass! Some of the questions don't make much sense, but hey it's Florida I'm talking about. From what I understand they may go back upto 3 months for medical bills so we're optimistic. The Medicare extra help was for her meds and let me tell you...WOW! We went from spend upwards of almost $300 for just one of her meds to only $2.65 to $6.65 each.
One of the things that pissed me off was the fact that one of my Mother's doctor's said that they have several "well-off" patients who use Medicaid to help pay their bills. We are NOT well-off and it's frustrating that folks who don't NEED it are using it anyway.
Our denatl coverage is shit throught the state and even thought I collect SSA/SSI for whopping $734 per month, I had to get a CareCredit account to pay to save my teeth.
So far though (thanks to Mother Goddess) we have been able to manage.
I'll pray for you and your partner and hope that everything works out. If I had the funds I would buy those domains from you.
Keep your chin up - Jay

hey good you're doing well
but
I'd read up on the way hospitals charge you though. You don't have to pay the $1200 just 'cause they claim you do. I was in the ER twice last year, one doctor charged me $980 to basically come in for barely a minute & give me xanax (yee). The other was more attentive and charged me like $500. And my ambulance ride magically went down from $600 to $280.
Hospitals always inflate their costs, and insurance pays the inflated charges then they come and ask you for more $$$
Was it a public/county hospital? They didn't offer to submit your paperwork to the local charity service that may cover some or all of what you owe?
