The badpuppy site itself is good. The site's they host are the one's that need work. I have to agree that these webmasters get these sites, throw up a little content, and rely on badpuppy's content to close the sale and retain them.
Lisa is a great person, but the sites they host does kind of make them seem like the Wal-Mart as MiamiB stated.
Their set up is great for someone that is new to this business and just starting out. However, it's not something that membership site would want. So, in my view, for what it is they are great.
Yeah I agree.. content is king.. quality original content is Gold!Quote:

As time goes on and surfers get smarter they are able to discern between the trash and the true quality sites.
I agree there. It seems they've let the genie out of the bottle with the cookie cutter sites you described. People are starting to associate the Badpuppy logo with high gloss outside low quality inside.Quote:

I'm excited about the Badpuppy resurection and have every confidence that they will be able to pull it together.. if they work hard and listen to what people are saying about where they are and how they're viewed.
Hi Guys,
I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and hope that you will welcome me as a contributing member of these forums. As someone has pointed out and in answer to the thread question, yes Badpuppy is gay owned and operated. Steven, my partner in business and in life and I have been together for 11 years and have operated Badpuppy since 1995.
First of all, Thanks for all of the positive comments and feedback. Since 1995 we have built our company on suggestions and ideas of customers and our peers in the industry. Some of these ideas were good and some were not so good. Unfortunately, no matter how much analysis you do ahead of time, you never know the outcome unless you try.
I would like to address the mentioned "resurrection" and our business model just a little if I may. If I have misread something in the post preceding this one please feel free to clarify. I know that it is hard to read emotions and demeanor of the poster when the writing occurs and it is certainly not my intent to offend.
To me, resurrection means a return from the dead or something of a grave position. Squirt, again I am curious as to your meaning of the word. It has been our goal since 1995 to always produce or acquire the best content and provide said content to our user base. When we first started Badpuppy we only guaranteed the subscriber that they would get one model shoot per week. Today, Badpuppy alone updates twenty-four (24) hours a day and seven (7) days a week, four (4) new models every week, new Professional and Amateur Video Reviews daily, two (2) Studios updated with new clips daily, Model Sets offered in four (4) different resolutions and sizes, hands free Flash slide show, 6,000+ Gay Streaming Video Feeds, Live Sex Feeds from over 25 different companies and access to over 100 additional websites, within our Network that also update on a regular basis.
One thing that I would like to stress beyond any other point is that Badpuppy's business model has been the same since day one and is still the same today. We have continued to build our core presence and enhance it on a daily basis. Since 1995 we have always had "Contributors" that have their sites hosted here and protected under the Badpuppy userid authentication system. Each contributor, no matter if they are a Featured, Commercial or Standard contributor are required to update at least once per month and in some cases more frequently. If the site is not updated then they are pulled from the Badpuppy system. I know this happens because at least once or twice a week I get an email stating which sites have been pulled for not keeping up their end of the bargain.
These "cookie-cutter" sites, as they have been called, were presented as an additional marketing idea by an outside source and we finally came to an agreement with the webmaster that creates sites for others individuals and companies. The people that ultimately begin running these sites must comply with the same rules as everyone else and if their content is not switched out on the agreed upon time schedule then they run the risk of being delinked as well. In their defense they have become some of the highest converting sites in our company history and the most important point of all is that Our Customers Love Them. So, I would say that at this point these "cookie-cutter" sites are a major benefit to our continued success and have no negative repercussions on our member base or brand dilution.
I have always wanted Badpuppy to become a central location where people can get anything that they would like. Our current setup provides a wide variety that fits almost every taste out there. To me we are more like a Cable TV company. We carry the Big Name channels and along with that we carry channels that are new and aspiring to be a Big Name. Granted everyone is not going to like what is on one channel so they come to Badpuppy to "watch" another channel.
I've never had our company compared to a Wal-Mart before; but, you know what, if that is what were are going to be likened to then we are going to be the best damn Wal-Mart out there. Just call us the Wal-Mart Super Center - More Content than You Can Shake Your Dick At and DEFINITELY More Bang for Your Buck.
Thanks again,
Very well said :)Quote:

Good to have you in the community also Bill :)

Hi All;
OK, this is my first post and I have no idea what I'm doing or how it will look when I submit.
Bill spoke from the heart and I could not have said it any better. Badpuppy is as it always has been and even more. We're thrilled with how far we've come and just where we're at. There is a method to our madness and experience is key. There is not many out there with more experience than we have.
I just want to add 1 thing to what Bill has covered and it's in response to the additional contributing websites that are a part of our network. Yes, there are some that are better than others. But all have a place here. We are a Gay portal and you cannot find another site out there that offers as much, for so little.
Many, many of our Featured Contributors came to us with pretty good sized member bases that were simply looking to change hosts. They are successful sites with some being around almost as long as Badpuppy. Of these sites, over 90% of them offer original content that cannot be found anywhere else.
These sites are as much a part of Badpuppy, as Badpuppy itself and do very well. They make more money than they ever did on their own and bring lot's of new members to Badpuppy as well. They work hard and it pays off for them, as well as Badpuppy! It is a win-win situation for all involved.
One other thing I'd like to hear specific feedback on is the navigation issue I'm hearing about. Are we talking the Badpuppy navigation or that inside our various contributor sites? If Badpuppy itself, I'd like to know what is so hard to find. We have our content broken down as specific as we know how to break it down. I really am looking for qualified specific feedback, as it's important to us. We want to make everything on our site as easy to find as possible. Please help us to do so by telling us what was hard to find and why!
If any of you know about Badpuppy and how we operate, you'll know that suggestions are so very important to us, as that is what we base our changes on. Today's suggestion can very easily become reality tomorrow.
I want to thank each of you for your support and/or feedback. You have no idea how important each of these items is to us.
Sincerely;
Lisa Turner :high:

Welcome aboard William! Nice to meet you and have an open dialogue about my original post.
Nothing I've said is meant in a mean or doragatory way. It's important as a community that we stick together and help eachother out where possible. My post is meant to fascilitate open discussion about the glam front entrance pages that I feel are going to cause problems for you in the long term.
"To me, resurrection means a return from the dead or something of a grave position. Squirt, again I am curious as to your meaning of the word."
Yes that pretty well states it. A return from the dead. Yes you've been in business since 1996 etc. and there was a time when Badpuppy was the THE place to go for gay porn. Those times have changed. Now I see a possilbe resurrection happening. Seeing more Badpuppy out there. More sites bringing attention to the Badpuppy name etc. The only thing is some of these sites are doing your brand harm from a surfers perspective.
"One thing that I would like to stress beyond any other point is that Badpuppy's business model has been the same since day one and is still the same today.""These "cookie-cutter" sites, as they have been called, were presented as an additional marketing idea by an outside source and we finally came to an agreement with the webmaster"
The change to your business model that I'm talking about is the new "cookie-cutter" influx of high glam low content sites that stand on the back of your core content after the surfer subscribes, and not deliver, the mostly niche content, that they promise the customer. One good example is a leather site that looks great on the outside, and inside you get just a few galleries and 2 videos.. that's it! Then of course all the Badpuppy content that isn't categorized to easily show all the other leather content you have, if any.
"In their defense they have become some of the highest converting sites in our company history"
You and I aren't talking about the same sites. Unless you think less then 20 sales a month are your "highest converting" sites. One is getting more.. but not even in your top 15 according to your PuppyCash statistics http://www.puppycash.com/topsites.asp .
"So, I would say that at this point these "cookie-cutter" sites are a major benefit to our continued success and have no negative repercussions on our member base or brand dilution."
If you feel that sights with high glam front ends and your logo slapped on the front, with thin content inside, are not to your demise then so be it. A leather site, or black model site, that promises quality niche content inside, then only delivers a few galleries and a couple videos for that niche, doesn't make the subscriber happy, no matter how you look at it. This all came to my attention when a subscriber sent me and email about being happy not to be ripped off. I know that people that work as hard as you must aren't out to rip people off.
I'm coming from a good place here. I want Badpuppy to be the gay porn mega site. I want to make money with Badpuppy and see you successful. If I wanted to see you fail I wouldn't post on a public board the things I thought you were doing wrong and could improve on. We all have areas we can improve on and I'm trying to help you as I hope you as I would hope you'd help me.
Again, nice to see your response and welcome to GWW! :-D
Hi Lisa and welcome to GWW! I want to reiterate the fact that I'm putting a lot of effort out here to make you better. I'm not here to contribute to your demise.
That said.. I don't know HOW the last sentence of my last post came out as "We all have areas we can improve on and I'm trying to help you as I hope you as I would hope you'd help me." What I meant to say was we all have areas we can improve on. We can help each other. I'm trying to help you as I'd hope you'd help me.
"Are we talking the Badpuppy navigation or that inside our various contributor sites?"
Both. The subscriber surfs by picture and groupings. It's difficult for a surfer to navigate by a screen full of over a hundred text links on your main members page. You are grouping your content by contributor.. not by "Bears""Twinks""Hunks" etc. So if I want to find Asian content.. I have to go through all of your contributors to find what I want. This is time consuming and leads to frustration and disappointment on the side of the surfer.
On the contributor side it's worse. After I input my username and password to Badpuppy... some of your contributors make me enter my username and password again. So a surfer who is looking for specific content, because you to categorize the content, has to go from site to site, re-inputting their username/password, to dig for what they should be able to find on your front page.
Here is an example: "Premium Gay" I see it on your front page under video clips.. I don't know what kind... so I have to click the link to find out. After clicking the link I'm directed here http://www.badpuppy.com/members/gold/premiumgay/ which at first glance looks like an empty page.. but then you see a small logo on the left hand side that says premium Gay enter.. ( I thought I already entered by clicking the link?) .. so I click again.. I'm taken to another front page entrance page that says enter ( I thought I already entered twice now? ) .. so I click a third time.. now I'm taken to a page that says series 1 - 10 . ( at this point I STILL don't know what kind of content I'm getting ) .. so I click a fourth time to see what's behind "series 1" Now my 5th click.. still no content.. I see a page with one video.. a bunch of thumbnails and links to the videos... so if I click a 6th time I assume I'm finally going to get content!
Six clicks to get to the content and find out what that contributor offers and unless they want an anal beads video ( in this case ) then they have to go through the whole process again! This doesn't make a surfer happy.
There are quite a few more examples.. but to be honest.. I've been typing this, and my last response, since just after 7am my time and I need a break.. it's over an hour and a half since I started these responses and I need some coffee :-D
Thanks for your welcome Squirt and for your feedback. As I said, feedback is always important to us.
Regarding your comment on most surf by pictures and groupings of specific types of content, i.e., Asian, Twinks, etc., we do offer galleries which are clearly labeled on the member start page, as well as the galleries section itself. We offer a large variety of content grouped by themes suggested by our members. Aside from the galleries by theme, a user can search our Badpuppy models using our model search. This can be done by using the drop down window to search by model category type, i.e. twink, euro, porn star, fetish, original, or by body type, i.e., hairy, shaved, smooth, hunk, twink, etc., or by categories such as asian, black, latino, caucasian, etc., or finally by hair color, penis type (cut or uncut)and several other options to choose from.
Granted we also have over 100 contributors and Featured contributor sites that offer specific types of content such as Porn Star sites like, Chris Steele, Donnie Russo, COLT Man Todd Parker, Jeff Palmer and many more for those into Porn Stars. We also have contributing sites that are Niche specific like Boys On The Web, Twink Palace, Allboy Magazine, Lionmane etc. (All Twink Sites), Leather Sites such as Slingzine, Leather Bound Sex, etc., (For those into leather, or light bondage)and many more that specialize in the content they offer. Actually we offer over 100 additional websites, with some being smaller than others.
As far as having to login again when the user enters a separate domain and not a part of the Badpuppy domain that is due to crossing over servers, as we use NT authentication. We've really not had much complaint on this situation. I do know though that one wants to get to where they're going as quickly as possible and we do our best to make that happen.
The Premium Gay content that you use as an example is actually not a contributor as you thought, but plugin streaming feed content that we purchase for the members. We have that content grouped in the Streaming/Video Clips sections, as that is how we group the plugin content, not by niche, but by the fact that it's either streaming video or video clips. The name of the content we cannot help and I do realize it is pretty general. But that is the name we have to use, as we cannot rename content that we lease from companies.
It actually takes 2 clicks to get to the main page of the plugin content and then another to reach the video file categories that are listed and one more to get to the page of video files offered at various speeds. One of the clicks on entrance is from the Streaming/Video clips page itself and the second is that of the referring url page which is required in most all cases on leased or plugin content. We would love to have full control of the content and be able to change things here and there, but that is not possible.
Rest assured that where we offer our Badpuppy content whether it be galleries, models, reviews, forums or anything that we over see and control, we do our best to get the user there ASAP!
The site is large and can be a bit overwhelming, especially to a new user that is not used to surfing larger websites that offer a huge variety of content. This is why we try to categorize both with the member start page and with the navigation tabs. We also offer a key word search field on the pages where one can type in a key word and it will search, showing results based on the key word used. Much like a search engine, one can end up with a ton of results, but that is yet another way we try to help the user navigate.
To use the Super Walmart comparison again, it's very similar with mega sites. You walk into the store front door at Walmart to buy a sleeping bag and you have to go past several departments to the back of the store to find the sleeping bags. There is no way in a store or on a website to bring everything to the front door. With this said, we do the best we can.
Thanks so much for your feedback Squirt and you do bring up some valid points, some of which we have no control over. We have used member feedback with the last 3 Interface changes and redesigns and will always seek their input in future enhancements. This is their home on the web and we want to make them happy.
Your past, present and continued support is very much appreciated.
