i love my board tracker. it has definitely resulted in business for me and the companies i represent. sometimes you just need to be more specific with your keywords and phrases, but I think its an awesome tool for our biz.
Ok so I signed up at this boardtracker thing. I put in keywords "gay programs, gay content, gay traffic, gay affiliates, gay affiliate programs, gay sponsor".
So I'm seeing posts about things that aren't about those words...??
Just can't help myself sometimes Don :-)Quote:

I have a terrible time with Board tracker. I only get 1 or 2 emails per day and most of the time my keywords are not in the threads sent to me??
I have started using http://www.allofem.com/ .. I go there quite often during the day and I will search for "Gay" or whatever.. it brings up almost every board.. except GFY.
I was going to pay for a subscription to board tracker but it just does not work well enough for me.. I wish it did.
I don't like it much either. I have it set up to look for Current search term: gay programs, gay content, gay traffic, gay affiliates, gay affiliate programs, gay sponsor. Guess how many posts it has sent me that deal with any of those keywords. Anyone? 3 guesses. The answer is 0 (ZERO).
I had not checked my email since 7 pm EST. I just checked it right now (2:00am) and had 19 emails from Board tracker. None had anything to do with those terms I had it look for. It's like it just spams me to death with ALL posts in hopes that I might actually shift through them and find one that has anything to do with what I was hunting. I could see if it was sending me links that maybe had one of the keywords in a sig or something.
Alas, no. I get emails about sites wanting traffic to promote their newest twat, or they are selling their money making MPG site, or they have a new deal for design.
I’m sorry Lee for doing this, but where do you see any of those search terms in this link? http://www.fhgstore.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=228 http://www.awwboard.com/showthread.p...threadid=13698

You are making a fundemental mistake which is easily corrected.
Wrong way: gay programs, gay content, gay traffic, gay affiliates, gay affiliate programs, gay sponsor
Right way "gay programs" "gay content" "gay traffic" "gay affiliates" "gay affiliate programs", "gay sponsor", "gay sponsors"
something like - gay programs - is wrong because BoardTracker sends you emails on EITHER the word Gay OR Programs. when you put it in quotes "gay programs" will only trigger an alert on an EXACT PHRASE MATCH.
Is the explanation clear?

see that is what I thought also. So I went in 3 weeks or so ago and checked it and changed things to match what you exampled there. (thanks)
However, I still don't care for the program enough to buy it because there wasn't anything in 50% the emails that had anything to do with programs at all. Granted, I'm sure that it works well for str8 webmasters and I'm sure they would love it. however, I don't think the market is ready for gay sites using it. (unless you are a program with 3+ gay and straight sites.)
Partly because until this last year, 90% of the gay programs didn't market themselves, or you come up with the words used as a term that is totally off topic from what you where intrested in.
I cant really say how effective it is for you or if its worth it to upgrade from the free version to the premium, but I am just thinking that 50% match (even less) is not too bad and might be better than having to go through the thousands of thousands of the new irellevant threads on all the boards there.
However, it is very personal, and no doubt about it - only you can judge how useful it is to you.
