What if you never had that much respect for the ship you were on in the first place? Because it never earned your trust or respect.
What if, because fate tossed you some obstacles and a life that was "meant" to always radically change?
What if you empowered yourself to "go" with the changes? And that meant "taking care of yourself".
Would that be considered "deserting a sinking ship"?
Or, what if you're too tired to fight anymore...for the sake of fighting.
Fighting something that has more power because you're not of the same faith, and their numbers are more.
Fighting for a future you cannot see, or a future that looks too bleak, should you continue to fight?
I'd say to anyone that wants to leave this country now, they should, and they should go make the best lives they can for themselves.
I only wish I were more prepared to leave here....soon I hope I will be!

I respect your feelings Rainbo1956. I've always been a bit anti-establishment myself. But I can't help thinking that I could move away and make things better for me in another country, but then I think about the children that are going to grow up here. The gay teens that will not have a fighting chance when government policy takes away their right to assemble and seek safety in the schools, or the Aids charities that need the help of individuals because the government has cut funding. Basically, we have been spat on by our government and many of the people in this country have seen fit to support that, but we can help each other. Gays have often formed families of choice because of not being accepted by those we were brought up by. This is the same thing. We have to take care of each other here because the powers that be will not.

don mike - right on!
a lot of people didn't vote. let's wake them up gently for next time. support whatever you feel needs support, and support the aclu every step of the way!
i still believe there is goodness in people and in our country, but we need to help open it up. even that mtv commercial dawgy posting was full of hate. i believe you cannot fight hate with hate.
