my hope is that this election will motivate the democrats to get more involved in the campaigns. i know it has motivated me. i sat here on my couch supporting kerry and wish i would have gotten involved.
James Carville was saying that it is time for the dems to more clearly define their goals and agenda and I agree.
I say it's time for Democrats to stop being so fucking nice in an attempt to appeal to the brainless, wishy-washy middle of the road "Undecided" voters. We need to fight, kids, and being nice as to not scare the Soccer moms was stupid. We need to make people stand up and cheer.
We need to reclaim our liberal leftist roots and stop trying to appeal to the middle ground.
We need a strong Liberal person who makes people think that being Conservative is anti-American. that's pretty much what the Republicans did in reverse. We need to give them a man or woman who would make people think less of the other side.
If we could find an Oprah Winfrey type person, we'd be right on the money. Someone who appeals to everyone because they are so sure that they're right and the others a wrong. Kerry didn't have enough of a personality to embody that.
I say, and I dont give a fuck what anyone else says, this election wasn't about terrorism, it wasn't about jobs and it wasn't about anyting other than a pissing contest.. and it always goes to the biggest dick.
Dubya is the worst president in American history. He's given us record debt, the lowest dollar in generations, a divided country, the blood of thousands of dead on our hands, a tanking economy and he's empowered the biggest assholes in the country to become bigger assholes. He's a lazy liar, he's a classist and a homophobe, and although he knows all of this, he doesn't care. He's better off, and that's all that matters to him.
But at the end of the day, people would rather vote for someone like that than for a guy who didn't make them stand up and cheer. Get Angry.. Get Even.. Get Back to the left, kids.. it's gonna be a bumpy four years.
jason, that's very idealistic, but i believe democrats need to make themselves appear LESS threatening to the conservatives - 'cause they're the ones who vote. i know far more christians who voted than ever before - and as long as that happens, we need a party who can appeal to them as well as to us.
honestly in this campaign, i think a different kind of attack campaign against bush would have been effective. had kerry been able to make bush seem NON moral in the eyes of middle-america, he's have taken the election.
i read bill clinton's autobiography a couple months ago, and i could immediately see where kerry was fucking up. it was a serious fucking eye opener. whether you like bill clinton or not, he really knows his stuff, and the first half of the book makes a great beginner's handbook in politics - how they work, and how they can work for you.

Women vote more, and Oprah appeals 100% to Women, Gay men and Liberals of all kinds.
I voted for Kerry, but I didn't really know much about what he believed.
Now, I know we could never get Oprah to run (and please don't say Americans wouldn't vote for a black woman... it would just proove you believe the racist lies of Republicans), but if we can find someon like that.. with that much fire and drive and steafast resolve, we can take back the country from the liars and extremeists.
