These would be my numbers for working men movies.
15 trials here 12 did not convert
8 recurring and from those 3 canceled.
Maybe you can create a nontrial tour
and Let us choose where we want to send our traffic.
I know that can be done with ccbill

Jim,
I've had 8 Workin Men Movie trials this month and only one conversion. I still have one that could possibly convert.
I wish all sponsors would just stand firm and dump the trial altogether.
Michael
I agree, unless a PPS sponsor wants to pay me $35 for trial.Quote:

those wmm conversion numbers is SO much lower of a conversion ratio than other sites that seem that good that i would be curious to see the member area. there has to be reasons - like only full length movies or not offering popular sizes or formats or something like that. from what i hear, wmm puts the updates last in their list - a poor idea, since members want to see updates in their face.
i personally like to choose trial or no trial links - but a site like wmm should be converting around 40% or better. maybe a limited trial would help, but i'd like to see no trial at all as a link option.
Ok, thanks Dzinerbear, for sending me this thread.
Where to begin...
I have spoken with Cheeks about the issue of trials, and he has very specific reasons for wanting to offer them. Over the years of shooting his videos, and selling them, he has become very good lifelong friends with ALOT of his customers and models. To the point where he often travels to visit them on a regular basis, and vice versa. The videos, for him, have been a lifestyle that he has grown to love, and that he has grown accustomed to.
When he decided to launch the membership website, his goals were to make extra money, yes... but still wanting to hold to his roots, and still treat every new customer as a possible friend, since he had so many past experiences.
Now, fast forward to the present and Cheeks is in a state of learning new stuff regarding the website all the time, and even though I promised him that I wouldn't bug him again about trials ( I have bugged him about trials enough to annoy him ) I will still show him this thread.
I know full well the primary reasons behind your guys' business models, as I do the same thing for a living... it's just that Cheeks has/had different ideas/motives for starting his website... I hope you guys can at least understand that. :)
So, at the risk of being the messenger that got shot, I will forward this thread to Cheeks. *crosses fingers and hides behind my monitor* hehehe
p.s. Basschick the newest updates are displayed at the top of the thumbnail preview page, with each thumb linking directly to each new update. Perhaps you thought they were put at the end because they do get added to the next page, so that if you were to bypass the thumbnail preview page, it would appear as being put at the end... I will work on a way to make this more clear.

A "make Cheeks new friends" affiliate program? That's kind of, uhm, different.......Quote:

thetwink,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I hope cheeks will read this post. And I hope that he understands that it takes a lot of skill, expertise, and hard work to get traffic to a sponsor's site. I don't mind doing it, I actually love what I do, but in the end, I have to look at the bottom line: what sponsor's are going to make me the most money.
While Workin Men Movies is a great site and has amazing potential, I will eventually have to make a decision: do I want to continue promoting a site that largely sells unconverting trials and collect the $2.47 a pop, or do I want to send my traffic to a potentially more profitable site.
Workin Men Movies is very successful for me. I've only been promoting them since Dec 11 and I've sold 12 trials, 6 recurring, and I've had one rebilling. But one can't help but wonder if most of the trials aren't renewing, wouldn't we all have been better off if they had bought a one-month membership and left, or even if half of the 12 bought a one month membership and left?
Most of us love our sites. We take care of them and fawn over them because they're precious to us. So we understand that yours has a special meaning for you. Perhaps you might consider a trial period where you remove the trial for a week or two and see how things go. If recurring sales actually go up, we all win; if sales go down, re-implement your trial, and webmasters will understand. Money is money.
Cheers

Yeah, I'm not digging the trial program at all.
I've had 19 trials, 4 recurring and 6 trial conversions. That ratio is terrible! And I know why...
I joined to see the members area before the affiliate program started... excellent unique content that can't be found anywhere else. But there just isn't enough to keep members busy for a whole month. So a surfer joins for 3 days, sees everything that WMM has to offer and cancels the trial before it can convert to a full membership. I am certain that many of the surfers joing WMM enjoy the site... and they probably will join again every 2 or 3 months.
WMM is exactly the kind of site that I want to promote, but I will quit being an affiliate if the trials aren't stopped or the trial-to-full conversions don't get better. Plain and simple, my traffic is better off being sent elsewhere despite the 1:25 ratio that I'm enjoying. And that would be a shame because I am a big fan of WMM.
Btw, what does friendship have to do with offering trials? I don't get that at all.
no, more of a treat someone as if he were your friend mentality.Quote:

why is it so hard to comprehend wanting to be nice to people. That's all that I meant by the 'friends' thing. jeez.
The main reason why his content is so good, is because he loves what he does, and part of the reason why he loves what he does is because of the people he's met over the years doing it. You guys have to remember that Cheeks didn't just decide to build a website from scratch, he took an already successful video production and sales venture and 'branched out' to the web.
I also promote other peoples sites, and generate trafic to drive to the sponsor tour, so I have experience in that end. You and I both know that the Gay market is just not as large as any other, and as such I can totally understand why you guys want this program to be tweaked to it's best.
in what formats were the videos offered? are there vidcaps of all the sets? do the videos come in clip AND full versions?
And that's the bottom line. Don't let the "friends" jab get you down, there's always someone ready to snap their fingers with a bitchy retort. The fact is that those of us promoting the program like it a lot and just want it to be the best possible so we can have a good quality site to promote AND make lots of money doing it.Quote:

6 trial conversions out of 19 is not terrible at all. that's roughtly 30% conversion... which is just about industry average right now. Couple that with an initial 1:25 ratio that you say you have and then it gets even better. C'mon guys, how many times have you had 1:1000 initial ratios with 10%-20% conversion from trial?? Too many for me. Not saying that things couldn't get better with Workin Men Movies, but things are far from terrible.
Videos are offered in Mpeg clips, and WMV full versions, and there are 4 thumbs representing each guy/update. Once I get in touch with Cheeks, I will see about getting you a user/pass to see how we have it.Quote:
