Let's make this as private as possible. If I were running a link list site, and if I got 10 submission of sponsor content, I would have probably accepted the first 10 ones, provided they have different design etc.
Isn't it the same situation with bought content? Oh come on, there are sets from Ounique I've seen on at least 4000 AVS sites in the past 10 years, and no one has ever complained about the age of those sets.
And in the defense of JUB, their site will soon be the site to which the rest of the hubs and free portals are compared.
JUB rocks, and if they have to play God a bit, so be it.
anything that makes a site rock isn't playing god - it's making a good site :)

Playing god? Grinning at the poor webmaster? Amazing the things people can put in your mouth, or keyboard in this case, from a couple of sentences.
Btw call me when you have your own link list with huge traffic and lets talk about 2 year old content and perfectly fresh sponsor content.
tyrain jub/linkmeallover.ca's link list is updated 3 times a week
categories only get filled with new sites when there's a submission made for that perticular category
All nice sites but Trevor's Banana Guide is the dope. :pimp:Quote:

JUB has become less of a hub and more of a real online community with tens of thousands of members, a forum that has hundreds of hourly visits and people who have become on-line and real-time freinds.
JUB us a place where the users have helped shape and direct the site itself, and some people actually go through withdrawl when not posting and visiting and reading.
A fucking amazing idea...notto take away from beautifully done sites like Banana Guide or Hunk Hunkter or even Hunkmen.
Just go hang out on JUB and join the forum and you'll see why it's the future of online gay anything. People have gone there for advice on how to come out or safe sex and I'm even right now in a discussion about dick piercing... I've never seen another site that has that much to offer.
Jasun, I agree about the community thing, it's really nice. I only pointed out BG simply from a traffic/trust/conversions to paysites perspective, in that he has a corner of his own.Quote:

Ben, it seems as though you feel like you've been mistreated when submitting your sites. If that's the case, please email me JD AT justusboys.com and let me know what's going on. Bryce and I have been doing this a long time. We spent years submitting our own stuff to links lists before we had our own, so we know how it feels to have sites rejected. I hope that even when we deny a listing, we treat you with the respect you deserve.
Now that I'm on the other side of the fence, I see the constant battle that link lists contend with... everything from redirecting sites to trojan/spyware downloads. Incidentally, spyware, etc. is becoming a real liability and may necessitate some major changes in the way LL's operate. Anyway, my point is, its not easy on either side of the game. Surfers are demanding more and more as JustMe said, yet the content really isn't keeping up.
I'm not sure how it will all play out, but I didn't jump in to prognosticate. I just wanted to let you know that while we may not always agree about a certain site or bit of content... I'm thankful for our good submitters and I want to know when we drop the ball.
Thanks!
JD
I run a site that's taken me through both sides of the process and has me regularly going back and forth between the two - as a hub of a significant amount of traffic, constantly receiving requests from people to exchange, list or promote them, and as someone who continues to submit that very same site to LLs and directories all the time.
The only thing that'd really bug me when I wouldn't get an approval for a listing is when you never hear from the site you submitted it to. So you'd have their recip up for god knows how long because it takes them a month to review submissions and they require the recip at the time of submission, only to find yourself rejected or entirely ignored after having sent them traffic that whole time.
That pisses me off like all hell.
Fact of the matter is that everyone is entitled to look out for the wellbeing of their own site, and demanding high standards on a LL is part of that. It's an exercise not only in betterment but self preservation. And it's worked well for JUB, their having established an incredible website. I've been fortunate enough to receive a decent amount of traffic from them and can tell people here that it's high quality, converting traffic. Just as their new JustUsBoy BoysClub paysite has also proven to be a sponsor worth promoting. That stuff doesn't happen by accident, and no one has any inherent right to dilute anyone else's traffic quality.
Not to mention JustJohn tosses a mean salad.
Well it has been interesting reading, but what I find extremly funny about it all is:
1. All thos 14 sites I submited plus one Plus site have earned me several hundred $ last 5 days just by being listed on my AEN... and no other linklist... so I guess if the content or the site layout was so old and overused I wouldn't do quite ok with it...
2. I was never rejected by HunkHunter before and I've submited hundreds of sites
3. Those same sites I submitted to several other linklists and there was no trouble whatsoever, I get lots of "they look amazing" replies (and they are not autoresponders:)
4. If so called "old and overused content" was the case, I believe hunkhunter would be listing only 2 new sites per day... unfortunatly there are not so many content providers with fresh content as there are users who want pics and vids
5. On the other hand HunkHunter sends lots of traffic... but it usually doesn't convert so good as Sinbad or Manpics but still...
Anyway... I'm not angry and totally understand it's his site, he can refuse or do whatever he wants with it... I'm just stunned as I've never experienced being refused.... it's like in real life... you know... being refused is quite a heavy drop on your ego
So.... obviously I will have to look for some other linklists... any suggestions, excpt Manpics, Sinbad, JUB?
Thanx
I've had a text link on Hunk Hunter for about a year now and it's doing alright. The thing is that it's not costing that much, like $80 for three months I think. So really, I only need to get 3 or 4 sales over the course of the three months and I've broken even.
I do wish they'd redesign Hunk Hunter. It's a maze to try and navigate, and I'm a seasoned surfer. I wonder how much traffic just gives up without ever finding the pot of gold. It might have been alright when he was the only show in town; people were willing to put up with the confusion because it was all they had. But I can't help but think his traffic woes are a result of traffic moving to greener pastures.
That said, I sure wouldn't want the job of redesiging that thing ... after this many years of operation, it'd be a huge job. But still, probably worth the effort.
Dzinerbear
I guess a redesign would be welcomed, as it is extremly hard to navigate but it would take a lot a lot a lot of time to redesign it all, since all the pages are in simple .html.... I don't know...
The guy that is replacing Dennis is totally fucking it up, but hey... who am I to say... links are repetative, not updated properly.... for instance today for some hour and a half it just says "0" links for Wednesday....
A mess...
