500 conversion ratio on TGP? That's a good one
I think 1:2000+ is more of what you'd probably get
why build TGPs, especially only TGPs, everyone and their mother wants to give shit free to the wankers, more of them get off and less of them buy. Do AVS sites.
Or you can do very softcore galleries and free sites, crop the pics and put only as softcore as possible

I don't see how adult will kill blogs.
Blogs can stay pretty independent from one another, and so long as a blog is written well and gains an audience for itself it shouldn't really be at the mercy of any other blog, any blogging trends, nor should it really have any effect whatsoever on other blogs.
Blogs are a completely different beast than TGPs and they're nothing alike. The pretext of blogs, the premise and context and audience and what they're made up of is nothing like what a TGP has.
Sure you could have an infinite number of pointless and stupid blogs out there but... who cares? They'll have no bearing on any of the other blogs out there. They'll in no way affect any other blogs. Blogs gain an audience and following for reasons entirely different than what a TGP might and so what's happened with TGPs or even anything else really isn't an indicator of what might happen to blogs.
If a blog is devoid of content and interesting reading or something that makes it worth going to... then that blog itself will get thrown by the wayside. But it won't effect any other blogs, much less the entire blogging community as a whole.

I have a number of search terms involving AVS tracked by Board Tracker, and every day I see posts on a variety of boards where people say something like this: I haven't done AVS for a while, and TGPs just aren't cutting it, what's the best AVS these days?
This is significant. And I think it suggests that while TGPs are good for some webmasters, for many more, they're not the golden chalice they were considered. I think one of the big problems with TGPs is traffic trading. I believe that if a surfer doesn't get the gallery he wanted when he clicks a TGP thumbnail, then that TGP owner is contributing to the downfall of his own product. A surfer wants a gallery, he does not want to be trading away to some other TGP. A surfer will leave that TGP with a bad experience, and if this continues to happen, eventually, they will stop surfing all TGPs. Likewise, is a surfer isn't getting the "free" porn he's promised, he'll leave with a bad taste in his mouth, pardon the pun.
Everyone jumped on the reality site bandwagon. The straight side of the business pretty much killed that one with their stupid reality sites with themes like guys turned gay or straight guy duped in sucking a cock. The gay side of the biz never really picked up the reality site motif. There are so many good ideas that could fly if they were executed properly.
I think one of the big problems with this business is there are too many people mourning the good old days when you could put up 10 pictures on a page and say, "Buy this AVS membership," and pull in $6k a month. Instead of working hard and steady on an idea or project, I think too many people over promise and undeliver in an attempt to pull in huge bucks like the good ole days. We keep chasing this what-used-to-be until we run an idea into the ground. "Hey, this link list is pulling in good traffic and sales, if I have 50 of them, I'll make 50 times as much money." Wrong. You saturate the market with link lists so surfers don't find them useful because they've all got exactly the same listings.
And look at the large numbers of people who come here from the straight side of the business looking to make a quick buck. "I hear gay traffic converts better than straight." Maybe it does and maybe it doesn't, but you still have to bust your ass off to build a quality product and you've still got to get the traffic.
The best thing we could tell people wanting to break into this business is this: Are you willing to work 12 hours a day and make $50 a month for the first year?
Cheers,
Dzinerbear
