desslock, thank you for sharing your views on the subject even when it may go against the grain of the rest of the thread. I'm all for people speaking their minds.
Here are my views.
I understand what you are saying, and for a lot of younger Catholics I'm sure they pick and choose what they want from their religion. But then I think of my parents, who blindly follow along with whatever crap the catholic church shoves down thier throats without so much as thinking about what it is they are being told to believe. My mom will refuse to shop at certain stores because the priest in church told her not to. Her opinions are shaded by what is talked about in mass. And having this horrid old man spreading his hatred through people who put themselves in a position of being spokespeople of God makes me sick to my stomach, because there are so many people out there who take that word to heart.
Sorry, this issue struck a chord. I don't talk about my personal beliefs this much on the boards, but I just felt the need to say something.
