Believe me.. living abroad I know first hand how good we have it.. but oddly enough my standard of living is far better then anything comparable in the states, at least right now.. makes you wonder.
Yes, but how well do you sleep....really?Quote:

"...protect citizens from unwanted exposure to obscene materials..."
That's a key comment by the AG and I actually agree with it. Question is, will it be limited to unwanted exposure?
As the EA case shows, wanted exposure may not be a slam dunk prosecution anymore. People have rights to privacy and companies have rights to cater to them.
There's a difference between people choosing to view in private and being hit with an obscene image on a billboard while driving down the highway. I think the latter is the sort of thing obscenity laws should be limited to.
If someone is asking for close-up pics of double penetration, those photos are not obscene since the true definition of obscenity is in the eye of the viewer. Again, the EA judge pretty much took this stance too.
Hopefully this really will be limited to unwanted exposure. In which case, you better have clear warning pages up.
Matt 26z - everything you said would be nice, but they have been very clear. they want to make ALL porn illegal. they are trying to change things so that ALL porn is legally obscene. they haren't been subtle about this.
they are also trying to find "experts" to prove that porn is only enjoyed as a result of an addiction. the plan is that if they can pull this off, it is a disease, and not protected by free speech.
also keep in mind that obscenity is NOT in the eye of the beholder - at this time, it is definable ONLY by community standards. so how you define and border each community can have a massive impact on where you can shoot or market porn from.

If the industry continues to "hope" they will create a clear definition, or that some kind of "safe haven" will be created for us, you will be very disappointed.
The Justice department has learned they can't come at us with a frontal assault with the current slate of federal judges. So they will take what's second best. Endless cases that make noise, cost us money, and ultimately put us out of business, one, by one, step by step. Even a lost prosecution carries the financial expense that will put a small business person out of business defending themselves. Or certainly put them under such emotional strain that they give up and go do something else.
All they need to do is create case law based on confusing prosecution to use it.
:(
I think prohibition of anything these days is virtually impossible. Worst case scenario if things shift closer to R rated through some oddball prosecution then we'll all adapt.. and I'm sure someone somewhere will do stuff illegally.
If Republicans get ellected AGAIN I will seriously believe the electronic voting machines have been fixed. It's hard from abroad to get the whole story, and feel of things in the U.S. Are people really freaking out about this? Is everything more churchy? I've noticed the churchy idol contestant seems to be all the rage :shifty:
the green and libertarian candidates paid for a recount in ohio - where it was already proved that some of the voting had wrong results - but apparently even though they raised the money, nothing ever came of it.
here in l.a. they started using pens for voting, and people's pens were malfunctioning - there were all sorts of problems. i seriously doubt voting here was accurate.
the exit polls (i almost said exit consoles) showed that bush shouldn't have won. they aren't perfect, but they're usually pretty close.
hi everyone
I said a long time ago we have to police ourselfs or the governmant will do it for us. think of all the xxx mail you get, then think of all the under age kid getting it.
a week ago i got 25 xxx spam mail from this one company in canda, found the rep on icq and he didn't even care, so its websites like that ,that are driveing the bush government
I feel they might be able to slow it down in this country, but I don't understand how they are going to turn it off in other parts of the world unless they shut down the internet like they did in china.
this company doesn't care if they spam

Well, being a republican, I'll try not to take that personally....Quote:

There are so many checks and balances it would have to be done at a much higher level, and then, it could be checked.
But yes, it is "more churchy" it seems.
The pendulum has certainly swung the other way.
But the people are reacting...they don't like all the bible stuff.
